About Me

Author Nashieqa Washington* is a Black woman who deliberately seeks to associate with people from all walks of life. She accepts that these relationships will inevitably include fielding questions about Black people. Over the years, all the questions she's answered could fill a book - and now they do.Be a pal and buy yourBlackfriend's NEW book from www.YOURBLACKFRIEND.com . This is not a one-sided relationship, you can also ask questions of yourblackfriend.com - although not the ones answered in the book. However, if you don't trust yourBlackfriend, buy her book from major online retailers such as www.AMAZON.com , www.BARNESandNOBLE.comIf you're fortunate enough to live in greater Los Angeles you can pick it up at Angel City Books in Santa Monica, Zahra's Books in Inglewood, Smiley's Books in Carson, Lucy Florence Coffeehouse in Leimert Park and HideHo Comics in Santa Monica. And yes it's good but don't just take yourBlackfriend's word for it. I've been endorsed by my Mexican counterpart: www.AskaMexican.com and a fair and balanced Black woman among others: www.bellaonline.com under Society/Culture and African-American.

My Interests

There are very few things I'm not interested in - there's so much to learn.

I'd like to meet:

Anybody interested in cultivating and maintaining good relationships with Black people and humanity in general.

Music:

You can never go wrong with Bowie or The Roots. I desperately miss Rage Against the Machine.

Movies:

Apocalypse Now, Godfather I/II, The Matrix, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Hero, Excalibur, Kung Fu Hustle, most Vietnam-era war flicks and 70s movies in general.

Television:

Thank God for HBO.

Books:

Why Do Black People Love Fried Chicken? And Other Questions You've Wondered But Didn't Dare Ask. Oh... other people's books: The Bible, Rules for Radicals (Alinsky), 48 Laws of Power, Crime and Punishment, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, Invisible Man (Ellison), The Alchemist, The Fountainhead, The Power of Now - the list goes on and on.

Heroes:

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting. - E. E. Cummings
