I'm interested in humanitarian issues of all kinds. My eye naturally moves towards that regarding the human potential. The vast inner universe has captivated my attention for more than ten years as I've traversed the path of my personal unfolding. I love to share life and love with those who touch me in their ever-so-unique ways. I take pleasure in spending good times with my circle of loved ones.

I indulge in calligraphy and illumination. Calligraphy is the art of beautiful writing; illumination is the addition of colour and shine with paint and gold leaf, etc. I have a penchant for transcribing biblical text, complete with ornate illuminated letters. Calligraphy enchants me with it's exquisite attention to detail, and by the sense of antiquity that envelops it. I'm fascinated with illumination, itself - in art and in life - as it represents the spiritual world that infuses our surroundings. Check out the varying aspects of this particular piece.
I love the effect of the gold leaf illumination as it picks up and reflects light on this historiated initial:
The stylised gothic script showcased in this piece is a particular favourite of mine. Characterized by heavy letters and piano key-like spacing, it's ornate and majestic.
"Whence did the wondrous mystic art arise of painting speech and speaking to the eyes that we by tracing magic lines are taught to embody and colour thought?" ~William Massey
To contrast with the gothic script, here is another one of my favourites, copperplate, known for it's delicate flair.
"We live in succession, in division, in parts, in particles. Meantime within man is the soul of the whole; the wise silence; the universal beauty, to which every part and particle is equally related, the eternal ONE. And this deep power in which we exist and whose beatitude is all accessible to us, is not only self-sufficing and perfect in every hour, but the act of seeing and the thing seen, the seer and the spectacle, the subject and the object, are one. We see the world piece by piece, as the sun, the moon, the animal, the tree; but the whole, of which these are shining parts, is the soul."~Ralph Waldo Emerson
"As you recognize that you already own the wholeness you seek, and no one outside you can give you more than you already are, dysfunctional situations will evaporate like bad dreams exposed to the morning sun." ~Alan Cohen (Thanks Tracy for these two amazing quotes!)

I was born in the Year of the Dragon. Dragons are known to be healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn. Typically dragons are also honest, sensitive and courageous. They tend to inspire confidence and trust in those around them. Dragons are of the most eccentric of any in the eastern zodiac. They don't borrow money nor make flowery speeches. They tend to be soft-hearted which sometimes gives others an advantage over them. They are compatible with Rats, Snakes, Monkeys, and Roosters.
Taurus, the sign of the bull, is the one that others count on to come through in the clutch. Driven by determination and power, Taureans tend to be successful because of the perseverance that motivates them. Everyone seems to know that a Taurus has a temper, but rarely do they get to see it. Taureans are patient, gentle and possess an enormous amount of common sense. Those born under this sign usually get all that they pursue in life. Being a fixed sign, Taureans do not adapt well to change; they simply cannot be rushed into anything new. Ruled by Venus, Taureans are romantics whose sensibility keeps their feet on the ground even while they dream among the stars. (Thanks, Michele, for the contribution!)

70's glam--does it get any better than this??
"In the midst of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer" - Albert Camus
"There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." ~ Anais Nin (Thank-you, Christie, for sharing!)

Music:

I love Pearl Jam, Collective Soul, and 70's/80's glam bands - the more outlandish the better. And speaking of outlandish--I've developed a particular fondness for the coffee drinking "Dweebish", this due to their clever, ambient stylings delivered with a liberal dose of panache, not to mention the expeditious use of some exceedingly hypnotic PR. Oh, and they're fun, too, in a Ghost-World-sorta-way! I'm fond of androgyny in my music: the theatrical Dead or Alive; the disco-diva sounds of the Communards; the unequalled Divine. I enjoy some classical music, and all kinds of retro music in general.
