DJ Leandro has firmly established himself as one of South Africa’s top local and international DJs and Producers. Leandro started his music journey at the young age of sixteen, by where he started DJ’ing. But it wasn’t until top South African Production Company, ‘ Euro Tribe ‘, held their annual DJ competition. Which was judged by the countries and the worlds best DJ’s namely, Lady Lea Oliver (Ibiza) and Les Schmidt (Ibiza) to name a few .Top DJ’s from all over Gauteng competed for the covenant ‘ Euro Tribe DJ Champion ‘ and a guest set at what is arguably the worlds best club, Amnesia in Ibiza. Leandro Entered the competition made it through the first two rounds and eventually making it to the final where he played his heart and came out victorious. He was flown to Ibiza where he played at Amnesia, at there ‘ Es Puma ‘ foam party.When he returned from Ibiza, Leandro became a force to be reckoned with in the DJ world. At just 20 he had already played at one of the worlds best clubs. And his passion and talent for music was noticed as well as his ability to rock any crowd that was in front of him as well as implementing live elements into his sets such as the Cello, Percussion, Saxophone, live vocals etc. He had secured residencies at clubs such as Prive, Suede, Suede Lime, Latinova, Barouge, The Palms, Co.fi, Cabaña, Vaca Loca and Shoukara just to name a few. He has also made guest ‘ set ‘ appearances at Tilt (Durban), De La Soul (Durban) Carfax, Monsoon Lagoon, Foundry Fly Lounge, Taboo, Tempos and Sutra just to name a few. He too was flown to Cyprus where he played all across the Island, at its best bars and clubs … namely Times, Club Topaz, Basement, Napa Dreams (Aya Napa) and Amos.He has also had the honour of playing alongside the worlds and South Africa’s biggest names in the business, namely Portia Surreal (USA), Bert Bevans (USA), Paulette (UK, Ministry of Sound), Sam Poppet (Buddha Bar), Les Schmidt (Ibiza), Oliver (Ibiza), Ryan Dent, Small Paul, Craig De Sousa, DJ Fresh, Roger Goode, Rob Taylor, Greg Nate, Glen Lewis, St.Nick, Mimi Kesaris, Ricardo De Costa, Pimp Squad, Derek the Bandit, TK, Tamara Dey, Danny K, Garith Cliff, Zuraid Jardien and Nicole Fox to name but just a few .Along the years Leandro has also achieved quite a lot, such as playing a guest set on 5fm’s Vinyl Frontier, has been invited to play and be interviewed on Channel 0’s ‘ Boom ‘ and has (and plays frequently) on Channel GO’s ‘ GO Chat ‘.In 2005 Leandro revolutioned his sound from DJ’ing into producing and opened up his own record and publishing label ‘ Hats Off Records ‘ , which he owns and runs himself . And after a mere one year of producing he had 4 of his own productions licensed for four of South Africa’s dance compilations namely , ‘ Phezulu Selections ‘ , Loxion House Kulca ‘ , ‘ Kapitol House Kolectiv Vol.2 ‘ and ‘ Lady Lea: Catch me if you can 3rd time lucky ‘ . In 2006 Leandro pressed the labels first 2 12†pressings , ‘ Call My Own EP ‘ and ‘ Mzansi House EP ‘ which he distributed himself across the country . His producing skills have seem him do Official remix’s for top artists , namely Black Coffee , Kentphonik , Sis n Jones to name a few … He was soon recognised by Soul Candi and was approached by them and signed with them a 5 year digital distribution deal for all his tracks . They have been made available on all major download sites namely , Trax Source , Beat Port , DJ Download , Juno etc ….This is one DJ and producer to look out for as he burns across the globe with his style, energy and off course his music. Leandro is simply The Connoisseur of House.
