Kevin Knapp just plays music. A student of edm, indie rock, classical, funk, hip-hop Kevin tends to draw from these areas when massaging dance floors to life. A substantial figure in San Francisco’s underground music scene Kevin is known for his juxtaposed surly, tweaked, twingy, melody laden sets that provide dancefloorz with what they need right as they need it.Knapp began spinning in late 2000 and quickly became adept at constructing what was then considered deep chunky beats but really fell into his own with the completion the 2004 demo Tech Nasty 101. Tech Nasty is the way Knapp defines the rip roarin’, blipped out, tweaked, foul sock sounds that can be heard when Kev’s droppin science. Having played alongside, Claude VonStroke, Pier Bucci, and Lee Burridge just to name a few Kevin is no stranger to getting in there and creatin’ havoc.You can find his production work under the name CRuX with co-producer Eric Sebastien. Together they create curdled milk’esque goodness that makes ravers consider smacking the man next to them just because they feel it. Knapp can also be found under the name Slow Poke with San Francisco hero Jondi of Jondi and Spesh/Looq records fame. With several mix comps, radio appearances, and countless live performances under his belt across the globe, be sure and catch this kid when he’s in you town because Mr. Knapp’s surly Gorilla bass lines are infectious.
