About Me

www.djhoj.com
Hoj is a generally well adjusted individual with a passion for making people smile. Okay let's face it, he's a jolly bastard. In the early-90s he discovered a mecca of other jolly people in San Francisco ... an underground culture of happy dancing people that gave him a warm and toasty feeling inside. A feeling he remembered from his early days ... watching the smurfs on Saturday mornings.
So what was it, he wondered, that brought all these happy dancing people together? Ah yes, the music (you saw that coming ... admit it). The music he was hearing at ridiculously high volumes in dingy warehouses was starting to seep into his blood. It wasn't long until he started looking for music of his own.
And it began. Playing every house party, underground affair, radio show, and club event that came his way, Hoj's relationship with the crowd was developing, and he was addicted.
Coming into his own as a forward-thinking dj, Hoj remains a proud member of the San Francisco dance movement. With a residency for Opel Productions, a monthly show on Frisky Radio, and events across the US and abroad, Hoj has established himself and his unique style. He has enjoyed privileged spots alongside some of the worlds greatest djs including John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo, Armin Van Buuren, Johan Gielen, John Flemming, Lee Coombs, Hybrid, Dylan Rhymes, Jerry Bonham, and Paul Van Dyk. And he continues the charge with frequent guest spots for Spundae, Qool, SatelliteSF, and many more.
His sound is distinct, but he doesn't have the attention span to conform to a specific genre. His sets are always fresh and surprising. He likes it chunky, percussive, rude, and funky. Hoj's unique and eclectic blend of house, breaks, and techno, as well as his seamless technical ability, are bringing him to the forefront.
