Shane Grammer was born March 15, 1972 in the college town of Chico, California. With a humble beginning, he started his career by sketching sports figures once he was a few years out of high school. Shortly thereafter, he attended Butte College for a semester where he was introduced to his artistic passion: graffiti. He had always been interested in art, but after seeing a twenty year old video spotlighting graffiti in the subways of New York, he was inspired to become a graffiti artist.Despite his small town upbringing, Shane was intrigued by the big city and urban hip-hop scene. Shane moved to the Bay Area for three years in the late 1990s and there his eyes were opened to even larger scale graffiti murals on the streets of San Francisco. While living there, Shane was involved in an outreach organization called Crossroads where he would work with the urban youth in after school programs. He derived some of his inspiration for his artwork through the kids he met in those days during the outreach. He saw the pain and hardships they went through and could not help but express it through his art. But most of his inspiration comes from God, wanting to paint Him in a very real and tangible way and not just with the typical theme of "Jesus Saves." It is important to Shane that his paintings are always saying something, whether it's inspired by his own personal life, or the lives of those around him. Many of the themes in his artwork are subtle, but they carry a strong message. In 1996, he decided to create his business, Shane Grammer Innovative Art and Design because as he says, art is his life and he cannot see himself doing anything else. Most of his artwork, including his more modern pieces, all have a hip-hop edge to them, revealing his first interests in that genre. Shane's clients have expressed that he was hired for his deeply emotional and passionate style. While Shane's business is thriving, he feels very strongly about being a part of gallery showings of his artwork. For him, they are places where he can express himself completely and experiment with new styles.Currently, Shane can be found in Roseville, California with his wife, where they are still involved in youth ministry at their church. Shane is the director of the Jr. High ministry at his church, where he continually draws inspiration from the kids.
