About Me

The enigmatic J Da Flex is a long time scene player with a solid reputation that precedes him. A reputation that has taken him worldwide with DJ bookings in New York, San Francisco, Japan, Cape Town and even Estonia, Finland, Denmark The list goes on.J Da Flex began making moves back in 1998 just as the UK garage scene started bubbling. Working alongside fellow scene veteran El-B, Jay helped set up the famously influential Ghost label giving a kick start to the dubstep scene and etching a permanent mark on the sound that has since followed.Having just completed a successful three year term hosting The Underground Knowledge Show on 1Xtra, J Da Flex has developed his tastes musically to deliver a special blend of upfront future funk, broken beats, dubstep, bouncing breaks and inspires dance floors with his injection of tech house, and d&b. This fusion of quality styles transfers effortlessly from airwaves to the dance floor, in true eclectic party fashion. Its why he has covered shows on Radio One for the likes of The Dreem Team as well as the late, great John Peel. With a pedigree history of playing seminal London clubs such as Fabric, Ministry of Sound, The Egg; residencies such as Forward, Thriller Funk, and Tempo Tantrum; Jay has most recently joined the legendary broken-beat night Co-Op as one of their rotational DJs. The reason he can be found playing such a range of quality nights is this: he knows how to read the crowd and take them exactly where they want to be: on their feet and feeling good for it!Outside of the DJ booth J Da Flex has been getting busy in the studio. Having taken a break from production in recent years he is now getting back on top of things. Expect a barrage of foot shuffling ear candy to come soon, with collaborations featuring the likes of Alex Phountzi (Bugz In The Attic) among others.
