BiOGRAPHY
Bane Jelic is a musician from Belgrade, capital of Serbia (ex Yugoslavia).Since 2007 he lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. He origanates from a family in which music has been loved and played a lot. He was attracted and amused by musical instruments and music from the earliest days. He started to play the acoustic guitar when he was ten years old. When he was twelve, he received an electrical guitar and an amplifier as a present, and at that moment his musical journey began.
1. THE FLYING CANS, 1979: Bane's first group. He was twelve years old at the time. They played both domestic and foreign songs.
2. APOCALYPSE, 1980: This was a heavy metal band. Other members of the band were somewhat older than Bane, but that did not bother him. The band took part in a large concert on Belgrades Tasmajdan pool hit 202 1981, where various groups played in front of 3,000 spectators. The master of ceremonies was Vlada Dzet. The concert was broadcasted live by the radio station Beograd 202. During this event, fourteen years old Bane gave his first interview from the stage.
3. KROKETROLL, 1982: This band played in schools, various youth clubs, etc. It also participated in Zvezdarijada concert. During 1983, they also played in the club Dadov and in the centre Vuk Karadzic. They performed songs by Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Jimmy Hendrix and many others.
4. BANE JELIC - drummer - 1982: Bane is also a talented drummer. He used to own a jazz system Tama. In 1982 he played with a band in smaller venues, such as Dadov, together with a well known jazz bassist Vladimir Novicic. Bane does not remember the name of this band any more.
5. ENSEMBLE BELGRADE, 1983: Bane played regularly in the club Romanitar on Terazije Street with musicians who could have been his parents. The violin in that ensemble was played by a well known violinist Kilibarda. They played pop, rock, country, and, occasionally, jazz.
6.MAGICNO OKO ( The Magic Eye) 1984: This band was among the best young hard rock groups at the time. That year they recorded their first album for Diskos Records. The guitar was played by Aleksandar Veinovic who left the band after this fist album was recorded. Bane replaced him.
Banes career of a professional musician began at this moment. The band had several tours across Yugoslavia, made a number of concerts and appearances on radio and TV, and was featured in many magazine articles and commercials.
Bane played with The Magic Eye on the biggest concert on which he has performed, and it happened on the soccer stadium Marakana in Belgrade, in 1985. This was Yu Rock Mission - Live Aid, a humanitarian concert for children of Ethiopia. The Magic Eye had the opening act.
In 1985 The Magic Eye released its second album, Something from Love, released by Vojvodina Concert Records. The album was produced by legendary singer Zeljko Bebek. This album had an even bigger success than the first one. The release of the album was followed by a tour, TV appearances, and everything else which is part of this business.
7. SLOMLJENA STAKLA(The Broken Glass) 1985: After 2 LPs for PGP RTB Records, Bane joins the band and with them continues to advertise this albums and to play songs from it. They had tours across Yugoslavia, TV commercials, spots ...
8. "JNA" In January of 1986, Bane goes to serve the mandatory military service. He soon becomes the leader of a military band and in this capacity spends the entire service time playing with the band in a military centre (Dom JNA).
9. PEDJA THE BOYS BAND, 1987: Before Bane joined the band, Pedja had released two albums for PGP RTB Records. For the third album, Bane composed most of the music and wrote most of the lyrics.
This band was not very active on the stage.
10. SLOMLJENA STAKLA 1988: Bane was called once again to play for The Broken Glass. The third album, Only Love Can Do It, is released for PGP RTB Records that year. By the way, PGP RTB Records was then, and it is now, the biggest recording label in Serbia. A tour followed, as did TV appearances. Material was prepared for the fourth album, but the band dissolved.
11. VIKTORIJA, 1989: Victoria had an single Coloured
sreets and Album Youll be sleeping alone with a number of big hits which was released for RTB Records. After this album was released, Bane joined the band. The album was followed with a tour. The album I Believe was released in 1990, also for PGP RTB Records. At that time the popularity of this band was at the pinnacle and it played in big venues and had tours across the country. Bane spent three and a half years playing in this band, and he wrote several songs (War and Peace, From Split To Belgrade- Victoria and Dino Dvornik duet) which reached the top of top lists. Some became hits of a year and some hits of a month. The CD The Best of Victoria - When The Rumpus Is Over was released by PGP-RTS Records in 1998.
12. BANE JELIC 1989: During the period when he played with Victoria, Bane composed ten songs which he sang. He created music and text of a commercial character, and was helped in arrangements by a member of a well known group Mama Koko. Bane gave this material to Suzy Records from Zagreb.
13. BANE JELIC BAND 1992: He assembled a band with the best musicians and they recorded hard n heavy album called Rockenroller..All music,lyrics,arranged,produced & vocal by Bane Jelic.
14. NEVERNE BEBE (The Unfaithful Babies) 1993: The Unfaithful Babies were formed in 1993. Before that, this band was called Frenky and it had released two albums. This was the band in which Bane felt the most comfortable because they played music which suited him the best (they were called Yugoslavian Toto). They recorded an album for Take It Or Leave It Records.They had many concerts in various clubs, and made TV spots.
15. BANE JELIC (UNIVERSE), 1994: That year Bane started recording an instrumental album which he finalized in 1996. He was the author of the complete album. This was not commercial music, so at that time no recording label showed interest in it. Only in 2002 PGR-RTS Records released this CD and started advertising this exceptional and virtuosic instrumental project, on that CD is a 15 instrumental compositions.
16. BANE JELIC BAND 1997: Bane assembles the band and goes into the studio Lucky Sound. This project is called "Path to the Heart", and Bane is again a complete author. The album is characterized by hard n heavy sound. The singer is Igor Vukojevic and Bane Jelic.
17. IGOR VUKOJEVIC 1997. : Till now Igor have recorded 4 cd-s, Bane was a quest in his music videos and EUROVISION BHT. he played guitars in studio, composed music, lyrics and arangments for some of his projects.
18. OCEAN - INSTRUMENTAL FORCES IMF, 1998: This CD was released by City Records. The best instrumental musicians in Yugoslavia participated in the making of this album, and Bane was one of them. Instrumental Forces (IMF) was a brain child of legendary Bata Kovac. The idea was to give instrumental musicians a more prominent place on the music scene. In this fight everybody participated in promoting the album, giving a concert, and in TV advertising, but the result was not big because Yugoslavia was flooded with kitsch and artistic trash, and with many music amateurs.
19. OSVAJACI 1999: The Conquerors (Osvajaci) was the best domestic heavy metal band. Realizing that they can not any more make a living with this type of music, the members of the band turned to the pop sound. This year they called Bane to join them.
In 1999, their CD (Vino Crveno) was released by Grand Productions Records, and soon after that The Conquerors became the most popular pop group in Yugoslavia. Their song Red Wine was on the top of the hit charts that year.
2000.Their second CD for Grand Production label, with the title Nevera (Unfaithfulness), was released the next year also with a big success, and was followed by tours and concerts in clubs throughout Yugoslavia and Europe.
20. BANE JELIC, 2003: Bane goes into a studio once again and creates a new instrumental album East-West. Music,Arranged & Produced by Bane Jelic.
21. JESSE GARON, 2004: Bane has finished thirteen compositions for Jesse Garon. This project is for the United Kingdom market. This is the sound of Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Seal.
22. HITS: From 1990 on, Bane has written numerous hits for many music stars of this country. These songs topped the hit charts, and were hits of a year and of month. He gives a guitar lessons for many years ahead, and wrote a music and songs for varios music artists. If it is required, Bane can completely transform himself musically, like a theatre actor, from one genre to another. But, the essence of his being is the instrumental player.
23. BANE JELIC 2004 "The Ultra Extreme" - A Homemade Release
This material has been arising from (1984 till 1994) and it was recorded on a standard cassette recorder. Between 1991 and 1993 Bane has played Fifth, Sixteenth and Eleventh Paganini..s capriccios, as well as "The Perpetuum Mobile". He also played "The Flight of the Bumblebee" by Rimsky-Korsakov and invented his own two capriccios - "Wheel of Life", which was realised in staccato technique, and "The Flight of the Salmon" in arpegio techniqe. Everything you hear on this CD is in a very fast tempo. It also contains a Joe Satriani..s capriccio "Power Cosmic", which Bane..s longer improvisation with different solo playing technics was recorded in 1994. The two compositions from this CD are also interesiting, as they were taken on a band probe and represent Bane..s playing possibilities at the age of sixteen, as well as fusion playing from 1994. When he was twenty, he played "unis" with Y. Malmsteen, by recording his instrumental "Far Beyond the Sun". In 1989 he composed demo versions of four instrumentals.

25.BANE JELIC (SRCE ZMAJA)-(Dragon's Heart) progressive pop-rock album-was finished in 2004 and has been published in the may of 2007 for Mascom Records.All music,lyrics,arranged,produced & vocal by Bane Jelic.
26. "EVOLUTION"- Swiss Gothic Metal band. Between april and june 2007 Bane was engaged in a project for this band creating all music, lyrics, arrangements, producing, mastering and playing guitars.This album was released by "Take It Or Leave It Records".
