Instrumental Guitar Shred

About Me

Nenad Kukic is a guitarist from Serbia, born on 13th October 1981, in Vrsac. His first signs of love and devotion for music were shown in preschool, while he was listening to all the tapes available to him at the time and music performed by the icon bands of the time- Riblja Corba , Bijelo Dugme , Queen , Pet Shop Boys , Michael Jackson , Erasure , A-HA etc.
During school, and towards the end of the 80’s, the already rotten society tries to impose their widely accepted music and boy bands such as New Kids On the Block . Fortunately, that influence evaporates quickly, after Nenad realised that this is not the kind of music that would go with his responsiveness at the time.
At the beginning of the 90’s a peculiar influence from the media in the country was responsible of his musical focus. The very first appearance of the “You could be mine” video awakens enormous fascination and fanatical approach to the music of the band Guns n’Roses . This influence lasted with the releases of both “Use your Illusion” albums, and up until the band fell apart.
Once again, influence from the media became strong with the TV shows like “Hard Metal Video Magazine” (broadcasted by channel NS Plus), and “Love You Live” (broadcasted by channel 3K). Both of these channels and the shows they aired helped broaden his musical education, and this is the point when he starts gaining interest in bands like Metallica , Judas Priest , Iron Maiden , AC/DC , Scorpions , Aerosmith , Def Leppard , Poison etc.
The idea of playing a guitar has been ripening in his young mind until then, and it surfaced only in 1995, when an acoustic guitar appeared in his hands and he started attending classes in a musical school. Nenad starts learning classical guitar, but soon realizes that this is not the instrument for him and all of this stays behind him and a whole new chapter starts in his life with the purchase of an electric guitar a year later.
With the electric guitar entering his life, so did the influences of great musicians such as Joe Satriani , Steve Vai and Yngwie J. Malmsteen . It would be unrighteous not to mention another strongly positive influence from the media, that came from a magazine called Rock Express , and gave him a chance to learn first lessons in playing electric guitar. The thing that helped him progress magnificently was a book ''Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar'' by Troy Stetina .
1998 is the year that represents the roots of his first band work. A crew of his mates invites him into a band called Legija Nepromocivih , later called Kosmopolit . Kosmopolit worked on their first songs, won the guitar competition in Vrsac, performed other bands’ songs, performed live in Vrsac, was invited as a guest band on many radio shows, and recorded two songs in a studio. Band also changed a few members in its existence. After it stopped existing, Nenad Kukic played with a few other local bands- Mirror , Protocall and Instrumentalci . Every one of these bands performed live.
The whole 2002 was a year when an exciting cooperation with Aleksandar Ignjatov occurred. Aleksandar invited him to take the role of the guitarist in his band Constant Fear , which performed in many festivals and recorded many demos. Constant Fear changed a few genres in music, and in 2005 it changed its name to The Dark Romance
In the mean time 2003 was the year when partnership between many different musicians, some of which played in The Dark Romance , occurred and a band called Kontrast was created. This band had a very important role in forming a professional relationship of these young people towards the live performances. Kontrast played in many clubs, and at the very beginning it had a special collaboration with a famous Serbian singer Tony Montano .
Parallel with Kontrast and The Dark Romance (i.e. Constant Fear), Nenad Kukic played in a band called Lugano . This particular band played in clubs in Vrsac, but also in Belgrade, Novi Sad etc.As a guest on their performance in Vrsac, the drummer of the band Bijelo Dugme , Djidji Jankelic , played with them just before his bands’ big concert in Belgrade.
After Kontrast seized existing another band, called Vostok , was formed by the ex- drummer of Kosmopolit , Predrag Cerovic . This was in 2004, and the main vocals were sung by Pavle Petrovic , a professional actor from Belgrade Academy. Later on, Alekasndar Ignjatov joined the band and they had many public performances, and among them a few were on TV. The band also worked with the winner of the “Idol” competition (Serbian version), Cveta Majtanovic . As well, one of the biggest Serbian guitarists and official Ibanez promoter for Serbia, Bane Jelic honoured them with his appearance on their concert in Belgrade. Besides all the gigs in the clubs, the band managed to write one of their own songs- “Nestajesh” .
Around that time Nenad Kukic started writing his own music, in addition to playing with all the other former and current bands. The realisation of his plans came with the great help he had from Vladimir Djedovic , the keyboardist to the most popular metal band in Serbia- Alogia . This is how band called Ultima was formed and a demo “Reaching Fantasies” was recorded. Vocals were sung by Igor Miladinovic of a famous Serbian trash metal band Alister . For the needs of live performances, Damir Adzic and Ivan Vasic , (also) of Alogia , joined the band. Due to too many obligations and responsibilities, Nenad Kukic has left The Dark Romance , and Lugano fell apart in the mean time.
In 2006 Nenad Kukic was approached by and actor and producer from Vrsac to write music for a play “Scapen's Mischiefs” by Moliere , performed by Vrsac National Theatre "Sterija" . Nenad did the music for lyrics written by Dragan Dzankic , composed all the music and recomposed two songs done by Dragan Dzankic.
From 2004 onwards, Nenad has been working on a solo album that changed its form, enriched and ripened through all these years. It ought to be completed by the end of 2007, and after that a search for a label to publish it will be sought.
Nenad’s latest activities therefore include intensive work on the first album, as well as intensive gigs with Vostok all around Serbia.
