About Me

..My Photo Journal So how do you condense yourself into a few paragraphs? Not sure, but I'll try. First and foremost I'm a mom. No matter what else I'm doing, mommy is my full-time job. I have 3 beautiful girls-- Rayyan who is almost 7, and the twins: Anayi and Eliya , who are almost 3. They are the spark and joy in my life as well as the cause for a few gray hairs.

I'm a strange and complex mixture of so many different things: liberal yet conservative, natural earth-mamma with a sassy flare. I grew up Christian, studied Islam and now am studying Jungian psychology, mythology and the images of the Sacred Feminine. I can say I've been greatly impacted by all 3. For a better understanding of my views on spiritual things feel free to read here .
I'm very compassionate, some would say an empath. I stand for peace and social justice around the world. I'm an open and honest person who's been down the road of putting on a facade to keep up a reputation. Now my life is an open book and there's really nothing taboo, nothing to hide. Take it or leave it, this is my life and this is who I am.
I am also an advocate for the power of the natural process, from natural medicine to homebirth and breastfeeding. I had an amazing birthing experience with my twins in my own livingroom. An experience that has hugely changed and empowered me as a woman. Read my birth story here.

I also love to travel. I have a special interest in ancient, traditional and tribal cultures of especially the Middle East and East Africa. Africa especially holds a special place in my heart, and who knows, maybe one day I'll end up in Zanzibar, speaking Swahili and lounging on the beach in the Indian ocean sipping on coconut milk :).
All 3 of my girls are already world travelers, and I hope to discover the world with them more someday. Along a similar line, I love languages and have in the past studied Arabic and Swahili, and am currently perfecting my Spanish.

In my personal studies these days I have been learning what it is to be truly feminine. The power of creating, nurturing and sustaining life, the beauty of compassion, tenderness and peace. Learning to embrace my intuitive and emotional nature as something beautiful and just as significant as masculine rationality and logic. It's been a beautiful time of transformation and growth for me. I wish the same for you all.

My Archived Blogs
..left Note about my blog: Blogging is a healing and creative outlet for me. In my process of discovering myself, awakening my soul and becoming a more conscious person, I rejoice, I feel, I seethe, I cry through the written word. I see my writing as emotional and poignant, other times raw and real, maybe at times too real. I believe secrets are poisonous and when the time is right, they should be explored and brought into a gentle light as a way of healing them. So if I touch on taboo subjects, it's part of the process of my own healing. But my hope is that the process can be healing to others as well. On the other hand, I believe beautiful moments should be honored and remembered, and the writing of them burns the vivid images deep into the psyche, precious moments that should never be forgotten. So read with an open heart, live the vivid moments of joy and pain. Laugh with me, cry with me... For in that we find healing. View my ARCHIVED BLOGS by subject here.
