'50s Mick

I am here for Friends

About Me

Please take the time to read my profile before adding me. I will not give out my E-mail address to strangers so don't ask.

I'm being honest here so please don't take it the wrong way. I HATE SNOBS! If you're into class snobbery, be you working, middle or upper-class, then don't even think of contacting me. If you're the sort of person who looks down on people who, for example, do a menial job then I haven't got time for you. This IS NOT a political thing, I just hate snobbery.
If you request to be added and you're wearing a skimpy outfit thinking that I'll add you because of it then think again - I won't! I will not add people whose profile is set to private and looks fake - or at least could be fake. And please don't add me if you're just collecting friends who you won't contact. I will say hello from time to time so I expect the same from you.
I'm quite a shy person but I'm ok when I get to know someone. I don't like cynical people, so if you're one of those people who have a sarcastic & cynical attitude to life then don't bother contacting or adding me. And I won't add those who invite me to view their nude pics, webcams or pornographic websites. Don't waste your time. They're cons I won't fall for - not that I'd be interested in that sort of thing anyway. I do not reply to strangers who send me their E-mail address and then expect me to reply - I won't. In most cases it's just a ploy so they can give out your e-mail address. I will only give my E-mail address when I know I can trust you. Genuine people only please. Neither do I wish to hear from people who set up profiles pretending to be Elvis, Marilyn, etc. They have passed on so please show them some respect. On the other hand I don't mind profiles that are set up to honour them, that's O.K.
If you're a band and wish to add me then please make sure you're a '50s style Rock n Roll/Rockabilly band. You'll have to ask first as I've used the disable function blocking band adds. This is due to bands who's music I have no interest in trying to add me - even though I've pointed out my criteria.
I love the 1950's with a passion - the music (all of it, not just the rockin' stuff), clothes & culture. The present 1950's rockin' scene seems to have lost its way a little, with some of the bands playing in a style that has little to do with the 1950's. There's nothing wrong with trying to bring rockabilly to the next generation, but it should never betray its roots. It should at least be recognizable as a music that originated in the 1950's and hopefully get the next generation listening to the originals too. For my part I enjoy listening to the original Rockabilly/Rock n Roll artists. The modern rockabilly bands I listen to are usually the ones who try and recreate the '50s sound, though I've nothing against the newer bands. I do draw the line at bands such as the Cramps though (to give just one example of many). They have little or anything to do with '50s rockin' music. My all-time musical hero is Elvis (all eras). That's right, Elvis - the one who kicked off the whole Rockabilly/Rock n Roll revolution. Many people on today's rockin' scene seem to have forgotten that. I also like other '50s music too, including our own home-grown rock n rollers. I'm tired of the childish Rockabillies vs Teds thing that seems to be going on in the rockin' scene these days. Just enjoy the music and stop knocking each other! I used to be a Ted so I get pissed off when today's so-called rockin' crowd start knocking the Teds. One question, who were the one's around in the 1950's? They were so leave them alone!
The 1950's were the 1950's. It doesn't need reinventing to suit modern tastes. I have a particular interest in life in 1950's England, even though I dress in a more American style. I'm a traditionalist when it come to the 1950's - the benchmark for how I dress, listen to my music, etc. I have old-fashioned values and morals. In other words I'm a man born out of my time. My body is in 2007 while my heart & mind are in 1956. If you can relate to that then we'll get along just fine. Even if you can't, please respect my viewpoint. It is, after all, a personal one. It would be nice if you shared some of my interests though. The only time I watch sport is when the English national team are playing.
I'm also a very proud Englishman who loves his country - and yes I'm English not British! I have no time for idiots who don't have a good word to say about England - and I'm just about sick to death of listening to such cretins. It's simple, if you don't like it then live elsewhere - and good riddance to you. England is a beautiful place. Why are some blind to it? The problems we have are things common to all parts of the world, or hadn't you noticed? Anyway the bottom line is that I'm into 1950's music, culture & lifestyle (though I respect people who are into their own thing). Interested? Then get in touch. I don't bite!Layout powered by HOT FreeLayoutsGenerate your own contact table!

Elvis - the one and only king of Rock n Roll
The always beautiful Marilyn Monroe
The wonderful Bettie Page

Music:

Both of the above magazines can be purchased at the following link: NOW DIG THIS
Rock n Roll. Rockabilly. Elvis (and all the other rockin' legends), Darrel Higham, Paul Ansell and all who carry the rockin' music to another generation, etc. I also like listening to the English rock n roll singers too - Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, etc. The only '60s singer I really listen to is Dusty Springfield. I also like some classical & opera, especially Mario Lanza, who in my opinion had one of the greatest voices ever heard. In the 1950's he was more popular than the Three Tenors put together.

Movies:

All the classics from the 1930's to the 1960's. Marilyn Monroe is a particular favourite. I also like a few modern films. . Meryl Streep is my favourite modern actress.

Television:

Classic English comedy

Books:

Favourite writer is H.E. Bates, short story writer from the 1930's to the '70s. I love reading all kinds of stuff, Anglo-Saxon (i.e. English) history being a favourite.

Heroes:

I have many Heroes & Heroines, from all areas of life.
