Well what a 2007... I played the O2 arena with Nikka Costa & afterwards jammed with Maceo Parker & Prince! I'm still feeling that gig now! Then in the summer I played another of my favourite rooms.. The powerhouse at the Southport weekender.. This time with Roy Ayers!! Then back to London & ended up doing the Jazz Cafe with the Motown legend Martha Reeves & the gorgeous Vandellas! And all these were just extra dates around the bands i'm really a part of.. Yesking a brand new & fresh reggae act with two MC's that are now really close friends... Bigup the Mystro & Baby Chann!!! Watch out for the new Yesking video where I shall be playing an undercover officer of the law!! Funny because i'd almost certainly be doing that if I wasn't a musician!!! Also I've been playing with another great band called Lord Large after having met Stephen Large on the road 2006 playing with the Quantic Soul Orchestra & Spanky Wilson... Actually the drummer from this tour Malcolm Catto & my eternal brother in all things musical Max Grunhard are hoping to be doing 6-7 dates at the Jazz Cafe this year as a kind of Afrobeat jam with another genius I am blessed to be working with Alfred Kari Bannerman from Osibisa!! Watch out for these as the 1st gig was fresh!So I guess now I should let you know about the people i'm working with 2008.. Max Grunhard, Tony Hayden & myself form 'The16bithorns'.. I am also playing in the Max Grunhard Quintet.. an exciting movement in free jazz!! Then the three of us support a wonderful talent from Brazil Menino Josue & the band Liquificador.. We are still trying to finish that album with engineer Ed Chocolat at the moment... Oh and no jokes about how tired I am in the mini documentary on youtube!! Then you have Felix Hopkins, Mike Patto, Vanessa Freeman & Leon Stenning.. Close musical & party friends!! Our efforts should be able to be heard later in the year on Vanessa's new album(it sounds amazing already!! Keep checking V's myspace for a release date it's gonna be 1 of the albums of the year!!)I had the best Christmas present of my life the beautiful Saya Dani Ella born the 27th December 2007.. I do feel a little more sleepy up at those times in the morning etc.. But it has made me long for my very own projects again.. Expect a Bluenotesy Jazz band working title 'Echovision' with Alex Stanford ..s & Keith Sutherland on Drums & also a solo album including some new friends such as Rob-Li Vox, Mystro & Chann as Mc's & some old friends like Verna Francis Vox.. Felix Hopkins Beatz/production.. hopefully a little piece of everyone i'm working with on this project... When they're that good I want to feature every last one of them!!Well thanks for dropping by... I will begin to put some of the new music i've been hoarding up soon so keep you're eyes out.
