Billy Perez started holding his own house parties when he was just 16, for his friends where he would DJ. He got used to entertaining people through his music and in 1991 started his own club nights. During this time, Perez decided to try his hand at producing and set up his own production company. Originally making Hip-Hop he's love of all things Soul drove him to Modern House music, where beautiful soulful vocals are common place. In 2001 he launched a club night suitably titled Soulhouse as a vehicle to showcase the music he was producing. Along the way being fortunate enough to work with many great UK and US artists such as Jocelyn Brown, Omar, Don-e, Vennesa Freeman, Reel People, Shaun Escoffery, Noel Mckoy, Diane Charlamagne & Donna Gardier
It was during this time Perez met Druw and the production partnership DRUW + PEREZ was formed. They were the first act to be signed to Defected offshoot Copyright Productions. Their track 'A Little Sunshine' Feat: Don-E, was a favourite with many DJs from Louis Vega to the Dream Teem, who made it Number 1 on their Radio 1 hypechart for many weeks, and was played religiously by Pete Young on Smooth FM.The boys have just had their second release again featuring the dulcet tones of Don-E titled Bonafide out now! On the new Soul-Heaven Records/Defected imprint.This month the OMAR Remix 'IT'S SO' will finally be out in your local HMV/Worldwide shelves and it's a cracker! If the pre-release hype is anything to go by. This will be the tune to put these boys on the Global remix map! This one will be sure to get many a rewind in your favorite club!Keep your ears peeled for some hefty new tracks in the pipeline D+P plan to experiment more with the live format and keep working with the cream of Britains vocalists and discover some more along the way.
