About Me

"Poverty of goods is easily cured;
poverty of the mind is irreparable."
- Montaigne

"To win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the highest skill.
TO SUBDUE THE ENEMY WITHOUT FIGHTING IS THE HIGHEST SKILL."
- Sun Tzu

"The Way of the Warrior is to manifest Divine Love,
a spirit that embraces and nurtures all things."
-
Morihei Ueshiba
"By amending our mistakes, we get wisdom.
By defending our faults, we betray an unsound mind."

- The Sutra of Huineng
"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

- Shakespeare , Hamlet
(Act 1, Scene 5)
"We never have enough information to enable us to fully understand the truth of the reality around us. And there is never only one correct perspective about anything.
Knowing this helps me let go of my tendency to label things as good or bad. I suffer least when I can accept reality just as it is. And I benefit most when I open my heart and mind in appreciation.
If you are pained by external things, it is not they that disturb you, but your own judgment of them. And it is in your power to wipe out that judgment now."

- Marcus Aurelius
CURRENT MOON
"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant.
We have created a society that honors the servant
and has forgotten the gift."

- Albert Einstein
"Little do men perceive what solitude is, and how far it extendeth.
For a crowd is not company, and faces are but a gallery of pictures,
and talk but a tinkling cymbal, where there is no love."

- Sir Francis Bacon
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
however measured or far away"

- Henry David Thoreau
"What is life but the angle of vision?
A man is measured by the angle at which he looks at objects.
What is life but what a man is thinking of all day?
This is his fate and his employer. Knowing is the measure of the man.
By how much we know, so we are."

- Ralph Waldo Emerson
In the face of those narrow-minded souls who always want to judge or criticize, I've learned to defy convention by blazing my own path on this long and treacherous journey that is called life.
I'm a spiritually guided introvert adamant on breaking out of my shell so that I might be better able to make a positive and lasting mark on this world. I've already embarked on this journey and there's no way that I could ever turn back, so please don't even bother trying to dissuade me from achieving my dreams.
I'm overly complex, sometimes contradictory and am often just plain mysterious. I can't be accurately penned into little boxes, so don't even try it. I'm extraordinarily talented and have a multifaceted personality to go along with my talents. I have an insatiable appetite for both worldly and spiritual knowledge and I excel on many levels even when confronted with adversity - something which, in one way or another, I've had to deal with for much of my life.
My intuition often borders on precognition and I'm critically introspective as well as keenly insightful. I'm constantly searching for and recognizing both the inner and outer beauty of this world - but in doing so I've come to realize that this material existence is only a temporal one and that it should only be treated as such. And while humility is hardly one of my greater virtues, you would be wrong to confuse my confidence with arrogance because I am one of the most laid-back people that you will ever meet. I would seriously give you the shirt off of my back if I knew that you needed it. I am what happens when bad boys turn good - overcompensating in the effort to try and make up for my past transgressions. Yeah, I've made more than my fair share of them - but now I think that I'll just have to plead the Fifth!
Love to live and live to love. Transcend your fears. Follow your dreams.
Don't take your friends for granted!

------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------
"What I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think.
This rule, equally arduous in actual and intellectual life,
may serve for the whole distinction between greatness and meanness.
It is the harder, because you will always find those who
think they know what is your duty better than you know it.
It is easy in the world to live after the world's opinion;
it is easy in solitude to live after our own;
but the great person is one who in the midst of the crowd
keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude"

- Ralph Waldo Emerson
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------
"The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of understanding"
- The Kybalion

My Interests

Hmmmm, let me see here...
I have more interests than I think that I could ever list.

Here's just a few things
from off the top of my head,
in no particular order:

Music Art Reading Writing Dancing Stimulating conversation
(concepts & ideas as opposed to sports & celebrity gossip BS) Altruism The ethic of reciprocity Eclecticism Inner (as opposed to outer) beauty Health & fitness Cognitive science Modern history Ancient history / Mesopotamian mythology Archaeology Politics Libertarianism Computers / Technology Sports cars (racing the tires off 'em) Finding beauty in ALL things Animals & nature Organic gardening Apperception Spirituality Eastern mysticism Metaphysics Existentialism Transcendentalism Shamanism Theology Cyberculture Hyperreality Culture jamming / Subvertising Lateral communication Lateral diffusion Technorealism Scientific skepticism Converting tacit knowledge (into explicit knowledge) Esoteric studies Egyptology Eleusinian Mysteries Apocalypticism / Eschatology Astral projection Lucid dreaming Astronomy (I'm fascinated by the stars) Outdoor recreation
(from the mountains to the sea and everywhere in between, I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, backpacking,
camping, mountain biking, white water rafting,
canoeing, kayaking, skeet-trap-and-target shooting, skiing, swimming, bodyboarding, boating,
fishing, those notorious "long walks" on the beach,
skateboarding, riding dirt bikes, four wheelers,
    wave runners, snow mobiles, etc.)
I also enjoy drawing, sketching, painting,
digital photography, etc.
I really love working with my hands
and can take just about anything apart
and put it back together again
- sometimes even minus a few spare parts
that don't seem to do anything, increasing it's efficiency ;)

As long as I have the right tools,
there's really not too much that I can't do.

Music:

"In a world of peace and love,
music would be the universal language."

- Henry David Thoreau

and with that
having been said

I want
HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG
Say whaaaaat!?
Really though,
just give me something
that I can dance to!!!

I've always enjoyed listening to a broad and diverse range of music,
but for several years now I've more or less
focused my attention to an assortment of EDM genres.
More often than not I'm listening to House,
Trance, Breaks, Electro, Techno, Progressive,
Tech-House, Tech-Trance, Hardstyle, D'n'B, et cetera.
And for those times when I just have to chill,
I don't hesitate to set the mood
with a healthy dose of ambient,
chill-out or jazz infused downtempo.
Now don't get me wrong,
because my music taste is very eclectic
- it's just that EDM has grown to be
the mainstay of what I've been listening to
for several years now.

Variety is the spice of life
and there is
much beauty to be found
in diversity!

"Dance is the
movement of the universe
concentrated in an individual."

- Isadora Duncan

"Right now, there is a whole, an entire generation that never knew anything that didn't come out of this tube. This tube is the gospel, the ultimate revelation; this tube can make or break presidents, popes, prime ministers; this tube is the most awesome goddamn propaganda force in the whole godless world, and woe is us if it ever falls into the hands of the wrong people..."

- Howard Beale (Peter Finch), Network , 1976

Idealism centers around the belief that we are moving towards something greater.

An odd mix of evolutionist and spiritualist, you see the divine within ourselves, waiting to emerge over time.
