“Hailer buzzed like Kings of Leon arm-wrestling Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for the soul of Bob Dylan. Good tunes, good attitude, good energy; they won't stay unearthed for long."
Drum Media 22/07/2008
Based in Sydney, Hailer play vibe-packed rock'n'roll that makes everyone in the room turn their head and stomp their feet. Hailer formed after a chance meeting in late 2004, and within a few months set about playing as many shows as possible, from dingy pubs to flashy clubs, in Sydney and up and down the East Coast of Australia. Now, having established the reputation of being one of the best live bands in Sydney, Hailer regularly headlines major venues across town. They have also supported bands such as the Mess Hall, Peabody, Bertie Blackman, Hitmen and the Lost Valentinos... to name a few.
Their debut EP "Like a Uniform" (2008) has just been independently released, and follows in the footsteps of their highly successful and acclaimed single "All I Wanted" in 2007. Hailer will tour nationally throughout 2008.
Hailer's appeal is universal - their music transcends fads and focuses on the undeniable - writing and performing great songs. This is a band who play with every fibre of there being, who write with honesty, and who routinely blow people away quicker than you can say “is that designer?â€

Things people have said about Hailer
"Hailer then told us they were "gonna play and you're gonna listen 'cause we mean it"; and meant it they did. Their sound was genuine, they clearly loved what they were doing and this vitriol was infectious as they whizzed through an array of toe-tappers. You wanted some good old fashioned rock'n'roll on a Sunday Afternoon and that's what Hailer delivered in spades, along with a healthy dose of bluesy charm"

"With all the experimentation and divergence of the previous two bands, main event Hailer came across as rock’n’roll by numbers. Snarling vocals? Check. Classic bluesy guitar? Check. Clichéd lyrics (“Come on baby light my fire†anyone? Sure I’ve heard that before somewhere ...) Check! But before we retired to the bar we remembered that these ingredients are a tried and tested formula for a bloody good time. As they sunk their talented teeth into infectious numbers such as Midnight Hour, you could see why they achieved number one in the triple j unearthed charts. The three piece had buckets of charisma and weren’t afraid to channel it into their live performance, which buzzed like Kings of Leon arm-wrestling Black Rebel Motorcycle Club for the soul of Bob Dylan. Good tunes, good attitude, good energy; they won’t stay unearthed for long." Drum Media 22/07/2008
"As long as there are bands like the Lazys, The Unheard, Jet, The Harry Sons, The Styles, The Pink Fits, HAILER and The Dragstrippers coming through, the War will never be lost."
Johnny Kannis - frontman of seminal Sydney band The Hitmen (Radio Birdman / The Saints) , published in i94.
"Where many bands of late over-indulge in the power of their electric instruments, from key-tars to gee-tars, Hailer shows restraint and maturity in their choices and this has paid off in a big way with their epic EP "Like A Uniform". Their blues infused rock certainly smacks of prominent influences past and present (I'll leave them for you to pick) but nonetheless delivers something extremely unique and totally refreshing. Hailer is the kind of band that REALLY grows on you" - www.sosueme.com.au
"Quite amusingly, Hailer will sound at its best on the "softer" songs such as Anybody's Girl with its hypnotic static rhythm. And what about the amazing Midnight Hour where the guitars skillfully play with a conventional chord structure (not to mention the tremendous break) at a time when we can only lament on the very disappointing Sons And Daughters album ... this ep showcases some great abilities of the trio, who we shall check again with real joy. The sooner will actually be the better". - Millefeuille Webzine (its French)
