About Me

[PROLOGUE]
In a time of confusion stems the moment of clarity. This glimpse initially was just a whisper in the ears of three souls on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Over time, the whisper grew into a voice. A voice that lives inside the hearts of each and every one of us and now it screams to us. This is a search for the truth of life and the meaning behind it. What separates death from dreams? What defines the fine line between reality and perception? Between ideals and the forces of outside stimulants? How can one obtain the truth without partaking of lies? Become objectionable without being jaded by subjection? To what extent do you create your own reality? It is the quest, the journey, the road less traveled that allows us to come closer to the truth daily. Through this, one encounters conflict, adversity, and deception. Some overcome...but most do not. This is erudite rebellion, a call to arms for those on this path to clarity. Its a belligerent reform, focusing on the fallacies destroying mankind from within like a virus. This is the demise of ignorance and an antidote for the illusion. Become lucid.
LDP is composed of individuals who have met by far more than mere fate. This is manifest destiny. These are artists of every medium who wish to share their own stories and celebrate in creativity. This is a tale that exploits the entrapment of life and the hardships of lessons. There are no accidents in life, only mistakes. This project is not an accident but simply a result of mistakes. Each artist has found the other through their own personal walks in life, through their travels down the road, and conversations at the intersections between them. This collaboration did not come easy and at most times has tested our patience. But in tasting the fruits of our efforts, it has brought a satisfaction never before experienced. Proving to us that self prophecy is more than a wives tale and that serendipity is far from science. Lucid Dream Project dedicates itself to voicing reason in a time of babble, serenity in a world of war, and solace in moments of mayhem. This is a haven for humanity, the nectar to null the nature of our numbness and a militant march of the meek. This is the result of doubt and knowing, not believing. This is for those who wish to awaken...
[Salience]
The term salience is used in a number of academic disciplines:
* In neuroscience and psychology; see salience (neuroscience)
* In CLIPS (a programming language), the salience rule property allows the user to assign a priority to a rule
* In semiotics; see Salience (semiotics)
* In project and general management the term ‘salience’ is used to describe the process of assessing the relative importance of the stakeholders and hence their requirements
In communication, the word salience is used for something outstanding, a highlight. There are interpersonal salience and intergroup salience.
[Salience] in psychology: Distinctiveness, prominence, obviousness. The term is widely used in the study of perception and cognition to refer to any aspect of a stimulus that, for any of many reasons, stands out from the rest. Salience may be the result of emotional, motivational or cognitive factors and is not necessarily associated with physical factors such as intensity, clarity or size.
The salience (also called saliency) of an item - be it an object, a person, a pixel, etc. - is its state or quality of standing out relative to neighboring items. Saliency detection is considered to be a key attentional mechanism that facilitates learning and survival by enabling organisms to focus their limited perceptual and cognitive resources on the most pertinent subset of the available sensory data. Saliency typically arises from contrasts between items and their neighborhood, such as a red dot surrounded by white dots, a flickering message indicator of an answering machine, or a loud noise in an otherwise quiet environment. Saliency detection is often studied in the context of the visual system, but similar mechanisms operate in other sensory systems.
When attention deployment is driven by salient stimuli, it is considered to be bottom-up, memory-free, and reactive. Attention can also be guided by top-down, memory-dependent, or anticipatory mechanisms, such as when looking ahead of moving objects or sideways before crossing streets. Humans and other animals cannot pay attention to more than one or very few items simultaneously, so they are faced with the challenge of continuously integrating and prioritizing different bottom-up and top-down influences.
The hippocampus participates in the assessment of salience and context using past memories to filter new incoming stimulus; placing those that are most important into the long term memory. The entorhinal cortex is the pathway into and out of the hippocampus and is damaged early on in Parkinsons disease.
