VOCALIST / MC / PROMOTER / DANCER / FASHION DIRECTOR
Laura entered into the world of music from first breath. Throughout her school years, her love for singing, dancing and acting lead her into many classrooms, group lessons and private teachings in piano, voice, horn instruments, drama and dance. At age of 17, she fled to Toronto, Canada from small town Ontario in hopes to find her spot in the light. For her that light included a long time passion for the new urban sounds, soulful vocals and heavy bass-lined beats.
However, upon reaching the city she was discovered in Toronto's fashion industry for her keen eye on beauty, knack for direction and hard-working business skills. After spending a couple years with Nine West Canada, Toronto Fashion Week and a handful of high-end ladies fashion clothing lines, she focused more efforts on her favorite online magazine, TorontoJungle.com. There she promoted the lastest urban wear, directed photoshoots, planned a couple club fashion shows and supported Drum and Bass / Jungle music. Soon after, TorontoJungle.com blossomed into the widely distributed Rinse Magazine, where she directed and showcased fashion pictorials for each season. Laura has worked with clothing lines such as Triple 5 Soul, Miss Sixty, Etnies, Parasuco, Big It Up, Akademiks, Ecko, Baby Phat, Circa, Spiewak, Ben Sherman, Zeto, Aaron Chung, Freshjive +++
During her first year with Rinse, Elle met an aspiring choreographer who taught classes in salsa, break-dancing, hip hop, jazz and urban tap & stomp. The two quickly became close friends and set off to work on the concept of a girl's Drum and Bass dance troup. Jungurlz started in 2002 and lead Laura, with new stage name "LauraBean", to be the group's co-owner, manager and stylist. The troup performed all over Toronto in various shows and Drum and Bass clubs, with LauraBean being it's prized dancer before breaking apart for different interests.
Laura's success and popularity found her introduced to a breakbeats producer in 2003. Upon discovering her vocal talents in singing, songwriting and rhyming, Pronobozo (www.pronobozo.com) took Laura to a different level in studio recording and stage performance. The Pronobozo Collective, including MC's J-Wan and Gatchaman, made waves with their collaboration titled Full Flex and took the stage at the 2004 Dark Knights car show. The Pronobozo album, "Zero Equals One Equals Everything", has reached fans all over the world and there is no doubt more to follow where that came from.
Always dreaming of the stage and her love of music had Elle step to the mic again in early 2005. There present were the co-founders of one of Toronto's longest running Drum and Bass weeklys, Chronic Soundsystem. Resident MC, promoter and part-owner, Delirious D alongside his partner and CSS mastermind, DJ Wigs, invited her to test her talents even further as a live freestyle vocalist and MC. Since then, LauraBean now known as Elle Be MC has been soulfully rocking the mic at venues across Toronto and it's surrounding areas.
Presently, Laura has been working with the city's biggest Drum and Bass promotion company, Theory Events, assisting with production and promotions for Urban Artist Television (www.uatv.ca), and writing/recording vocals with various Toronto-based producers. She has plans to visit Mexico and London in the coming year and has been filling up her schedule with plenty of bookings within Canada and the United States. WATCH OUT!
