Tanya Diona, a vocalist with a Grand Canyon sized voice, has made a name for herself as a singer, songwriter and entertainer. Originally from Buffalo, NY where she attended dance, modeling and theater school, Tanya was voted "Buffalo's Best Female R&B Vocalist" (2 years running), traveled the country performing for major corporate functions, and led her own musical act. In the NYC area she has 5 winning vocal performances at the Apollo Theater under her belt (two first place wins, others as winning finalist), including first place on nationally syndicated "Showtime at the Apollo," has given hundreds of musical performances, and has independently written and recorded a catalogue of original songs. Tanya is a member of the New York chapter of the Recording Academy. She currently performs as part of Ray Chew and The Groove on NBC's "The Singing Bee," and can be seen live in the New York City area; but Tanya also travels back to her hometown of Buffalo quite often for recording and writing, and has been a featured participant in FunkFest (which began as a memorial tribute to Rick James).
In the acting world, Tanya completed a two-year private class in acting with Richard Pinter of the Neighborhood Playhouse and was featured in a showcase at the Arthur Seelen Theater in NYC, and in a community theater production of "Seussical the Musical." She continues to hone her acting skills, and views her acting pursuit as a natural extension of the musical work she has always done and loved.
