About Me
This page is dedicated to those who love Betsey Johnson and all of her fabulous designs. This versatile, creative "Queen of Funk" helped give the '60s some of its outrageous attitude with her over-the-top rock and roll fashions.Fun and flamboyant, slender and sinuous, Betsey Johnson has always been the best advertisement for her own fashions. With hair extensions flying and a big smile lighting up rooms, she's pranced like a rock and roll ballerina in her extravagant clothes, making every appearance like a party, every room like a nightclub, and every article of clothing an original.
Her clothes have drawn influences from vintage looks of the past and high-tech fabrics of the future, thus uniting clear vinyl with sexy silhouettes and combat boots with baby-doll dresses. Rule-breaking Betsey Johnson gave the world the ripped fishnets, the sexy vinyl, the wild leathers, the biker chic, and the ditzy Cyndi Lauper look that have been part of the rock and roll world since the mid-'60s. She also made flowery baby-doll dresses popular expressions of late-'60s hippie culture. What's more, Betsey endowed modeling runways with a sense of fun by having her models dance for the photographers (Betsey herself has been known to do cartwheels on the runway while wearing a tutu). She had a pure vision of how clothes should function: exuberantly!
