About Me

State of Undress is a rocky rootsy six-piece from Dorset playing a distinctive brand of original music. Their guitar-based music interlaced with violin, mandolin and banjo in addition to bass and drums moves from the thought-provoking to the shamelessly foot-tapping! They currently have an album out called Ghosts of Wasted Chances (Rosebud SoU002 distributed by Proper Music Access). In the summer they released their first single Red Waters which was produced by Grant Showbiz, Billy Bragg's long time producer. The single is available from iTunes and 7Digital with all proceeds to the WDCS - Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society. Here's what some of the media have said about them:'State of Undress remind me of on one hand the more jolly Pogues stuff and on the other The Beautiful South. They have good spirit and feel-good songs with a touch of humour about some of the lyrical content.' BBC Southern Counties Radio'Song for a Boy' is one of the most stunning, most poignant tracks I've heard in a long time ..' Dave Lee Travis, BBC Three Counties Radio'Beautifully crafted lyrics ...melodies that linger long after the gig is over ..' Maverick magazine'Songwriters who really know their craft...not country in the accepted sense, rather a blend of folk, rock, country and a little jazz ..' Country Music Round-Up.'You guys have got some f****** brilliant tunes!' Jack Carroll, The Battersea Barge, London

Collectively. we've benn influenced by a host of other great bands too. Over the years we have definitely grown to enjoy acoustic singer songwriters more and more and some of the country singers like Alison Krauss. We also think there's some cracking bands around at the moment like Snow Patrol, and Keane and we recently came across a fab New Zealand band called The Feelers. Charlie also loves MeatLoaf and sadly knows all the words to every track on Bat Out of Hell but we don't talk about that in the band!
