DAVID MANSELL
Born in London now living in Dorset, David Mansell writes, sings and plays his own blues, ballads and jazz songs on an Ibanez Firebird Acoustic and various other guitars. He's played & recorded with other musicians/writers and as a solo artist in the late 70s, & 80s and came back to writing songs and performing again in 2004 after gigging in Malaysia, USA, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and Greece
His early musical influences are West Coast, Folk, Blues & Jazz. To name but a few - J.J. Cale, Warren Zevon. Jim Croce, Steve Goodman. Nick Drake, John Martyn, CSN & Y, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, JD Souther, Lowell George, Ry Cooder, Chet Atkins, Charlie Byrd, Dan Fogelburg, John Lee Hooker, J Johnson, Robert Cray and of course Van Morrison. Favourite singers include:- Aretha Franklin, Linda Ronstadt; Elkie Brooks; Jennifer Hudson, Nuala of The Alchemy Quartet; Jim Croce; Jackson Browne; and ol' Nat King Cole
David has released 3 albums since 2004, the first “hobosolero†recorded in Dorset in 2005, 12 songs written by him with acoustic guitar and vocals put straight down. There’s a few folk ballads, some blues, a little west coast and touches of jazz in there with lyrics drawn and conjured up from travelling, life, love, and people you meet along the way.
A second album "Nine Lives" was released in 2006 of 9 songs recorded live at some of his gigs in 2006 "The BrewHouse Collection" was his third recorded in released in 2008 Another is in the making called "Painting Songs to Sing Pictures" and will comprise of 12 more Jazz, Blues and Ballads that he has written and arranging.
