"The growth of a nation cannot be achieved by keeping the downtrodden down."

About Me

This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!

Basically I'm just a kid at heart. And since the WWW Web sometimes feels like a big global playground, I thought I'd go ahead and join in on the fun!

I'm a very eclectic person who thinks the most important things in life are friends, family and laughing. I am involved in the worlds of computers and education. I am also an undergraduate student, when I'm not working two jobs. My major is Communications. I haven't been in class lately. I think it was John Lennon (was it Lennon?) who said, "Life is what happens while you're making other plans." I've had a lot of "life" lately.

I want to see the world. I want to see Amsterdam, Egypt, England, India, Australia (thank you, James Garner and Support Your Local Sheriff), Washington DC, Anne Frank's hideaway, Auschwitz, Wales.

My Interests

What are my interests?
Friends, family, writing, laughing, books, baseball (Let's Go Mets!),plays, musicals, traveling, Shadowbox Cabaret, Harry Potter!!, books, long walks in the woods of Glen Helen, history, NPR, PBS, movies, Bollywood films, good TV (I know it's rare, but I dream -- and frequently indulge in mindless brain candy), books, cooking, politcal cartoons, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, board games, trivia, books, mysteries, dogs, cats, wine, food, science fiction, coffee, tea, teapots, teacups and mugs, um, did I mention books?,....

My favorite games are: Settlers of Cataan, Monopoly, Clue, Scrabble, Set http://www.setgame.com/, Quiddler, Kill Dr. Lucky, Fluxx, Acquire, Sequence,Trivial Pursuit, Quoridor, Quarto, Robo Rally. The comics I particularly like and read every day they are available are: Girl Genius from Studio Foglio; Boondocks from Aaron McGruder; Mikhaela Reid's The Boiling Point; Non Sequitur by Wiley; Tom Toles; Dreamland Chronicles; The Real Life; For Better or Worse; Six Chix. Listening to or reading the writing of intelligent conversationalists and good story tellers is always fun for me. I loved Molly Ivins. I also like Ellen Goodman; Studs Turkel, talking about anything he feels like; Scott Simon; Daniel Schorr; Daniel Pinkwater; Jim Hightower; Gwen Maxie; The Splendid Table folks; the late Shelby Foote; the late Buck O'Neill; Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley interviews. Since I love to laugh I'm always looking for folks of wit such as Tom Joyner, J. Anthony Brown, Russel Peters, Roy Blunt Jr.,Paula Poundstone, the show Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me, to name just a few!

Set ® Daily Puzzle

I'd like to meet:

Folks of wit and intelligence. Those with open minds and good hearts. I like people who are thoughtful and tolerant. I believe in shades of grey and think there are very few things that have black and white answers.

I HIGHLY recommend this book. As if I wasn't disgusted by the whole affair already this book really ticked me off. Scooter Libby should be in jail for treason with Karl Rove as his cellmate. Dick Cheney should be impeached. The arrogance of the current White House administration is shameful. But that is the problem - our Society no longer has any real sense of shame.
