'THE DECADENT ENFANT TERRIBLE OF LONDON’S ROCK SCENE' - Time Out - London
‘IT’S RARE THAT A CLUB LIVES UP TO ITS HYPE, BUT ROCKABARET IS EXACTLY AS IT DESCRIBES ITSELF – A DECADENTLY GLAMOROUS ROCK STAR PARTY’ - Alternative magazine, London
“MÉLANGE GÉNIAL ET DÉLIRANT DE SAGE DÉCADENCE ET D’ESPRIT BURLESQUE†– Le Figaro, Paris
Rockabaret is a decadently glamorous Rock Star party with live art performances in an authentic Victorian ballroom with a high, forty foot long original Victorian theatre stage at one end!
The theme for the next Rockabaret (Saturday 21st July 2007) is:
VIVE LA REVOLUTION!!!
and we will bring you:
AMAZING ENTERTAINMENT…
Burlesque acts, circus shows, catwalk parades, fire eaters, aerialists, Brechian cabaret…half a dozen or so performances, each lasting between five and ten minutes...then it's back to partying hard to the
MUSIC YOU LOVE…
Sleazy, glammy, new wave trash from Tony Maggs (Stay Beautiful) and dramatic, alternative rock from DJ Monzu. With lots of outlandish music from the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s thrown in. Think Marilyn Manson to the Gossip, David Bowie to Serge Gainsbourg, bit of Kurt Weill, a chirp from Edith Piaf, Madonna, Goldfrapp, Placebo, Mika, The Dresden Dolls (of course...) all in
A VENUE TO DIE FOR…
The Cobden Club's Grand Hall - a fabulous, gorgeous, fantastically elegant genuine Victorian ballroom, with the acts on a huge, authentic, 40 foot Victorian stage (the curtains open – and the magic begins…). Rockabaret is full of
MA KIND OF PEOPLE, DAHLING, MA KIND OF PEOPLE…

DRESS UP!
Come to Rockabaret if you want to be a rock star at a rock star party, adding to the atmosphere, not soaking it up. Dress to be stared at in the streets and you'll fit right in at the ball. And the theme this month is
VIVE LA REVOLUTION!!!
More information nearer the time - but we are talking Belle Epoque glamour, serious 18th century fabulousness!
And because the camera loves you, we have set up a
PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHERS’ STUDIO!
in a private anteroom next to the Grand Hall. Our photographer will be taking stunningly high quality portraits of all you fabulously freakish fiends – and uploading the best ones to our website . But remember: no style – no shot….so make sure that you DRESS UP!
OH MY GOD! BUT IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
Look fabulous! Play with the theme, have fun, express yourself, be outrageous, be elegant - it is a Rock Star Party, so go totally over the top. Everyone else will! Dress as you would like to every day in your dreams. At the very least, be elegant. We'd never be so vulgar as to say 'no jeans, t-shirts or trainers' - but you would never be so vulgar as to come dressed down. Sometimes jeans are just right, some t-shirts are just sublime, and it is conceivable that on occasion, trainers would be the perfect foil to the rest of your clothes. Rockabaret is an orgy of the most wonderful outfits - and to keep it that way, we have to be just a tiny bit strict. But at the same time, if you HAVE made an effort, if you have had fun dressing up, working out what you are going to wear, we will definitely not turn you away for not conforming to some pre-set idea of what people at Rockabaret should wear. So what we say is: wear whatever you wish, but if you don't look as if you have SOME sort of effort to dress up to come to Rockabaret - you probably won't be!
YES YES YES, BUT WHAT IS ROCKABARET REALLY LIKE???
Well, most of the time it is an alternative rock club playing - that music there in the world's most elegant alternative club venue. Every now and then, though this sort of thing happens:
WANT TO COME?You know you do. How could you not? Well, here are the
