About Me

C A R L A, daughter of a French Jazz piano player and an Afro- American gospel singer, was born and raised in Madrid. Later the family moved to Paris and Carla, still being a child, already got to know all kinds of social distinctions. After her high school graduation she went to New York in order to study music as well as Jazz History and to learn from idols like Ron Carter (Dave Miles Band). She finished her studies with a music major and a drama minor. After graduation Carla accompanied her mom to Japan in order to study Japanese and English near Hiroshima. Here she also passed with distinction and then continued to enhance her musical skills. Therefore, she worked with all kinds of international producers and artists. From Japan she went to London where she worked as a teacher for music, drama and later even French as well as Spanish at a girls school in Kent, GB. But she never neglected her own musical development and whenever she could she performed on stage in small clubs in London.During one of her last performances in a Jazz- Club she attracted Leslie Mandoki’s attention. The successful German producer was so convinced of her talent, her voice and her looks that he engaged her right away for the musical AUDI Q7 campaign. One of the results is the first single and Q7- Hymn “Streets of tomorrow”. A song that emphasises her soft, intense soul voice. Not only the first single “Streets Of Tomorrow”, but also Carla Vallets new album “Journey” shows her musical talent. Soft and harmonic soul songs combined with Jazz elements that manage to connect in a special way with Carla’s voice. She proves this with the song “The Journey Is Long” as well as with “Wings Of Tomorrow”. She shows her wild side with “Truth On The Radio” which puts emphasis on vocal diversity. Carla’s version of the 1979 hit “Streetlife” by The Crusaders also fits perfectly into the emotional album “Journey”, which Carla co- wrote and influenced musically.
