About Me

Try the BEST MySpace Editor and MySpace Layouts at MySpace Toolbox !
I am Just testing out this layout toolbox thingy...
I quit my job, my so called career (of nearly 20 years), in IT over 15 months ago [actually it was over two years ago], with no real aim in mind other than to travel the world, but things did not turn out how I expected and so I am now trying to make it as a writer.
I wrote the first draft of a novel last year, and it sits waiting to be rewritten.
I wrote a couple of scripts earlier this year, the first of which I recently sent of to the BBC Writersroom. Not sure if that is the place, but I had to do something, and start somewhere.
I have ideas for several more scripts, but I have been deeply undecided about what to write next.
I have this week been writing copious notes for my next script. It's getting bogged down in the situation, and the plot has vanished... Mmmmm. These things are never as easy as you think... Oh well.

My Interests

Reading, going to gigs, watching movies/TV, long walks, cooking (if I'm in the mood).
Oh yeah, and writing!

I'd like to meet:

Dead:
John Peel, Philip K Dick, Napoleon
Living:
Jessica Alba!

Music:

In no particular order: Nick Cave, The Chalets, Scott Walker, P J Harvey, Radiohead, The Velvet Underground, The Stooges, The Smiths, Muse, Big Black, Sonic Youth, Throwing Muses, Ash, Interpol, The Editors, The Modern, Tori Amos and lots more!
I truly truly truly hate the likes of Keane, Travis, Coldplay and The Stereochronics.

Movies:

I'm not sure I have one anymore. I used to be a big fan of David Cronenberg's Videodrome, but not anymore.
I have enjoyed Lost in Translation and Sideways (though not without cavils). I've been watching a lot of movies on DVD - see some of my blogs for reviews.

Television:

I hate Big Brother and its ilk.
I detest soap operas like Eastenders and Corrie.
Love SF things like SG1, Battlestar Galactica,
Used to love Lost (have given up on it because it has become more irritating than enjoyable).
Love Buffy & Angel
Really like Bones
Love Weeds and South Park

Books:

Michael Houllebecq, Philip K Dick and Peter F Hamilton - there are numerous others, but these are the ones I have enjoyed most over the years.
I am currently reading Charles Stross, and next on my list are Kim Stanley Robinson and Jack McDevitt.
I also like Jonathan Carroll, Neil Gaiman and Harlan Ellison.

Heroes:

No More Heroes

Why I am an Atheist (and a secular humanist)

I finished off reading "The God Delusion" (henceforth TGD) by Richard Dawkins last Tuesday. I started it before I went on holiday, having bought it at Gatwick on my trip to Malta in November. I made a...
