Singer, songwriter, story-teller...waiter, stand-up comedian...bohemian poet... Renaissance man...Jeffrey James Sutherland's been called all of these things...and then some.
He taught himself how to play guitar by studying the chord charts from songbooks belonging to his Uncle Dave, practicing on Uncle Dave's guitar while Uncle Dave was at work (Uncle Dave was PISSED!). It was during that time he wrote his first song...a heartbreaking little number about 'love gone wrong'...He was eight years old.
Since moving to Nashville in 2003, JJS continues to write, record and perform material he describes as a blend of 'old school country' and American rock'n'roll. His approach is simple...he calls it 'three chords and a cloud of dust'. While he's not out to reinvent the wheel, he's not willing to merely re-cycle it either. Combining country music's storytelling and melodies with the passion, power, energy and enthusiasm of classic rock'n'roll, JJS has created a sound that is distinctively American.
2007 has yielded his new album, 'All My Near Mrs.', this follows-up 2006's 'All In' and 2005's 'Tanglewood Drive'. Written and recorded in Nashville, all three contain wry, bittersweet and some times painfully hilarious (10 years on the road as a Stand-up Comic will 'skew your view') examinations of his experiences since moving to Music City. Loaded with '...more hooks than a tackle box...', this music delivers. Check it out for yourself in the SnoCap Music Store...on this page.
