Born and raised in Cincinnati,Ohio, Brian picked up the guitar in his teens and played in a Christian pop/rock band in college.Majoring in electronic communications,he graduated planning on a career in radio broadcasting,but a part-time job as a youth pastor in a small town outside of Cincinnati soon became the focus of his life.
Brian spent 10 years in youth and music ministry,writing songs as a sideline before showing his songs to anyone in the music industry.He found immediate sucess, and by the late 80's had established himself as a premier songwriter with the Benson Music Group, now know as Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing. He has written for such artist as Avalon,4 Him, Point of Grace, Brian Littrell,Selah, The Crabb Family,All Star United, Greg Long,Larnelle Harris, Jaci Velasquez, Cliff Richard and many others. His writing has earned him eleven number 1 songs as well as 2 Dove Awards, one for Inspirational Song of the Year in 1994 for "Holding Out Hope to You", recorded by Michael English and the other for Southern Gospel Song of the Year in 2004 for 'The Promise" recorded by the Martins.
Delighted with the success that other artist were having with his songs, Brian nonetheless felt a call to do more, which led to the formation of Brian White and Justice. After recording 5 albums and spending 14 years on the road in full time touring and ministry he came off the road to spend more time writing and ministering on a local level.
He currently is a staff writer for Universal/Brentwood Benson Music Publishing in Nashville. In recent days he has expanded his writing into the country market and has found success there as well with songs being recorded by country super star Trace Adkins as well as Terri Clark, Neal McCoy, Earl Scruggs, Blackhawk and the multi-week 1 Smash, "Watching You" for Rodney Atkins which was named SESAC Country Song of the Year at the recent Awards Dinner.
The song continues to be a fan favorite and a radio smash as it earned the title of "Most Played Country Song of 2007" as well as just being nominated for SONG OF THE YEAR honors at the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards, held in Las Vegas on May 18th. Add to that yet another Dove Award Nomination for 2008 Country Song of the Year for "James White", a song recorded by country legend Earl Scruggs, and you have a man whose songs cross the lines that so many tend to draw.
Brian is a man of passion and it shows thru in everything he does. Brian makes his home in Hermitage,Tn.
