Brooke Trout

Show tonight!

About Me

My joke for this week: TOO LOOSE LAU TREC...
There was some miscommunication with the conductor regarding a lack of LAU TREC.
He was well TRAINED in the arts.
Fish on, Brooke Trout

Mark your calendars for the next Treble Hooks show... Not to be confused of course with this Rip Tide Show...although there will be plenty of action and adventure!
Bittersweet reviews:
"A solid effort from a tasty female singer-songwriter, who compiled the entire ten-song disk with only one other musician, the versatile Timon Marmex . Hitting all kinds of highs and lows in both her lyrics and her vocals, Brooke squeaks, squeals, and chirps like a quirky new-wave heroine of many years ago, Lene Lovich...A couple of the songs have a punky punch to them, such as 'Suburban Cocktail,' highlighting how expert Brooke is at making various two- and three-chord progressions interesting and fresh...The net result on Bittersweet is a good catch of titillating tuneage. As an accomplished chanteuse who can write and play as well as sing, Brooke Trout is the real deal – well worth reeling in." -Rob Swick, All Access Magazine
"Brooke's fresh-water originals are rooted in Ska & Riot Grrl punk. If Billie Joe Armstrong, David Byrne and Yngwie Malmsteen could be morphed into a guitar & voice, Brooke would be the unique combination of vocal squeals and phased driving rhythms. Her acrobatic vocals, crunchy and thick-toned Ska-influnced guitar makes for an appealing fish-skillet combo of the best Trout in town." -MM, Songsalive.org
"I have met this artist in human form. She appeared to be a disturbingly smart biped, with expansive ideas, schooled in Carl Jung, and the extraordinary ability to see things for what they mean, and to treat symbols as tangible things. I knew at once that she was a subversive, despite her unassuming human form...If you want the plants to grow faster, play Mozart. Brooke sleeps with the fishes. She knows that the sleep of reason produces sea monsters. Sooner or later everything floats to the surface." - Billy Sheppard , Rogue Radio.

FISH TONIGHT!
"Mondays at the Good Hurt will be truely weird, Brook Trout as pirate with blackend beard,
Bootleggers peddling their rum and gin, Wenches peddling their love and sin,
Ghost ships crews of ghosts and ghouls, Mermaids drunken, sitting on stools,
Brook Trout takes the stage and sings, About nudey beaches, and undersea kings,
As the lights dim, and the room roars with applause, Brook Trout stops and makes a pause,
In her lovely Trout voise she thanks them all, From the captains large to the minnows small.
When the seas breeze is light, And the moon shines bright, When the tropical night sky is clear,
You can listen to the sweet song of Brook Trout in the Zephir wind, with a clam shell pressed to your ear." -written by Pope Black, hailing from Germany! :)
For booking and interviews check out our EPKBrooke Trout and the Treble Hooks... ...Live at The Gig in Los Angeles (Left to Right): Brooke Trout (rhythm guitar and vocals), Stuart Dill (drums), Alex Schmauss (bass) and Mike Dill (lead guitar).
Things get pretty wild backstage at a Brooke Trout show as you can imagine... Fish fans are pretty affectionate...
"Original music doesn't get much more original than Brooke Trout. Plugged into her beat-box and slinging her electric guitar she takes us into her strange and wonderful world full of funny, punny, thought-provoking lyrics, driving fuzz-wah guitar, and disturbingly entertaining vocal acrobatics."
– Aaron Black , Los Angeles SongsAlive!
"Cover tunes can be original and fun! Brooke performed a folk blues version of Stevie Wonder’s 'Livin for the City.' The audience huffed and puffed and danced a jig." –The Santa Maria Times

Sea Shanties With Brooke Trout...
Influences:
Too Drunk To Fish, and Phish. Also Dolly Vardon is a major influence. With her big smash, "Do I Ever Cross Your Stream" and "I Will Always Bait You," but most especially for her appearance in the hit comedy, "9 to Flies."
And of course who can forget The Doors with their great hit Sole Kitchen... Have you seen Sole's reality tv show? Forget about your poke n beans Emeril! Chef Sole doesn't FLOUNDER his recipes! He recently recieved accolades for cooking The Treble Hooks up a french onion soup at an exclusive private party! Paired with a nice dry white wine of course.Brooke Trout is currently protesting Trout Fishing In America and Fried Rainbow Trout. And most people don't know this but Seal is Brooke Trout's arch enemy. He loves her very much. Too much in fact. She had to draw the line at being devoured.
Most people aren't aware that this guy is just the studio's cover for the REAL Seal. And lest we forget about the great British invasion! Yeah, we all know who the REAL walrus is! You know, he wrote his best songs when he went on sabbatical with the Hare Krishna Monkfish! Hare Hare Hare up and eat me! Blech! :P That's around the time he had a vision of the Holy Mackerel!
Sounds Like: "The heart can think of no devotion greater than being shore to the ocean- Holding the curve of one position, counting an endless repetition..." -Devotion by Robert Frost
Trout's vocals have been compared to Siouxsie Sioux, Deborah Harry, Dale Bozzio, Lene Lovich, Exene Cervenka and (cough, cough) Jewel*.
Brooke Trout was nominated for the 2007 All Access Music Awards show in three categories including Best female guitarist (Rock, Melodic Blues), Best female guitarist (Pop, Alternative), and Best songwriter!

*It has not been determined at this time if that is Jewel with or without the booty shorts...

FORGOTTEN TONGUE:
A burning throat
that couldn't swallow,
choking on blood
and tending fallow
earth and grave
Your heart did shake
and you did cry
mostly out of habit
and rarely when you tried
and when your tears had finished
we could see the worm trail
they had left behind
Better off in mental drainage,
but pain and age
never escape the night,
trapped forever,
and blinded by light.
Pain in war
and pain in fight,
always told which feelings felt
were right.
Hyper static
ready to pounce
This battle your own
This battle without
Your vision is hollow
Your soul is blind.
And when your tears had dried
The tension burst like a cataract,
but you must go back.
Unpleasant dreams,
of slamming your head,
'till it's matted with blood,
and you wish you were dead.
O shield of Persius reflect this fate
Your future resembles a million snakes
The head of Medusa,
The heart of Hades,
Undressing screams
Unholy rapes.
No one cares
Although they stare
Apathy shadows
Foreboding despair
The ultimate nightmare
Is waking distraught
Living in silence
For battles unsought.
There is no one to turn to,
and no place to hide,
the monsters will find you,
and scuttle
and snide
Confide
Deride
Loud sounding
Pronounced
Preaching your death
Sweet resurrections
Save us at last.
