About Me
As Christopher Sharp grew up in the South Jersey area, music rose quickly to the top of his interest list. While starting at an early age tapping on his brother’s snare drum and his sister’s piano as a kid, he finally came to rest, at the age of twelve, with the love to learn the guitar. After grabbing a few starter chords from his older brother, Chris’s musical talents grew. While still in high school at the age of sixteen he began to play clubs in the New Jersey Shore area. Before long he was playing the whole Jersey circuit. Around that time, he then began teaching himself rock and roll, pop and easy listening songs by performers such as James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce, John Denver and Bread. Chris then formed his own "Country", "Country rock band" just after graduating from high school. This band specialized in Country Rock and country music influences such as Pure Prairie League, New Riders of the Purple Sage, The Marshall Tucker Band, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, and George Jones, just to name several. As time rolled on, he found himself touring with various bands throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New York. He loved the live music circuit. During those times, he had the privilege of playing shows with the Oak Ridge Boys and Marty Haggard, to name a couple.
As time moved on, he eventually married and had a lovely daughter. Together with his family, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, to try another music career path. While carrying on his lifelong quest of song writing, he also played the Nashville music scene. He showcased in places like Legends, Maggie Magee’s, and would make an occasional appearance in Tootsie’s and the legendary, departed Turf Club. In Nashville, Chris continued to meet and jam with other established players. In 1998, Chris had the pleasure of touring Germany, Italy, and Spain with country music recording artist M. C. Potts. Potts had recorded such originals as Straight to You and Back When.
After living in Nashville for five years, Chris relocated back to his old stomping grounds in Southern Jersey in order to focus on his family, along with his songwriting and recording projects. Chris now spends most of his time within the walls of his home-based multi-track recording studio. He is working on promoting his recently completed children’s album, which he originally wrote for his daughter. It's titled Christopher Sharp’s Animal Tracks, Volume I. Also he is presently working on his long overdue solo album. This album will be comprised of original songs that span Chris’s entire career, from it's beginning, through the present. On occasion, Chris is still getting out there playing solo appearances, which will be listed a good month or so in advance on this site before they would be performed. So catch up with Chris and what is going on in his musical career by sending a message to him, and he'll respond as soon as he can.
