About Me

Backing up the "Dead Kennedies" in "Vancouver,BC.,Canada in 1984 Listen up!!!!!!!!!!It was 1979,a dreary dark afternoon, dark and wet,I just ate 85 psilocybin mushrooms, because I was bored (Fresh not dried) ackkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!! (Vancouver Island has the best Psilocybin mushrooms in the world, very rare now)I picked from a field 1/4 mile from my house (can you believe it,a personal field, free harvest, too much),and drank a half sack of beer, I was having a weird trip and we were trying to walk off the mushroom steam,I was having a really heavy trip!!!!!!!!!I split, went to my room and threw on fucking my newest EP. "Holiday in Cambodia" and "Police Truck",haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, then "Killing Joke", it was something new heavy and gritty, daring, scary, funny, freaky, bizzarre I had been listening to punk for a while but the "DK's" were eerie, kind of heavy beyondo comedio, pcycho shit,a new plateau in lyrics and artwork (Hardcore was beginning). The other bands I had been listening too were "DOA","The Sex Pistols","The Deadboys","Killing Joke",various "Cherry Red Record bands","Sham 69",even "DEVO"(early Devo),"The Young Canadians","999","The Toxic Reasons" first 45 with "Drunk and Disorderly","The Canadian Subhumans","The Pointed Sticks","The Stranglers",but I knew punk was metamorphasing into something different, hardcore, there was no labeling bands that though,up in til' then all was called"Punk or New Wave!!!!!I soon connected with two punkers "Andrew Challinor" and "Greg Graham" or as I later dubbed him "Grog".They were listening to "The Sex Pistols","The Clash,"The Buzzcocks","The Stranglers",Cockney Rejects",and Andrew had the legendary "Live Crash Course" by the Subs, and the DK's 45 of "Holiday in Cambodia",different than the recording of "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables",a bit more kick ass!!!!!!!!!Bigger Grooves on the 45!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.We started jamming one day,Grog and I while "Andrew" kinda was shy and preffered to watch, the next jam was quite different with the help of a case of beer, and "Andrew" had some great ideas, and after Grog and I jammed the basic music for "American Patriot",it really stoked old "Android".We soon had to find a name, and since "Andrew" liked political stire,he wanted "House of Commons",I was not all that thrilled, but it stuck, for good or bad.In a few weeks we had enough originals for a set,and cover versions of "Police Truck(DK'S) and "Holiday In Cambodia" also by the latter, and a few "UK Subs" songs like "C.I.D.","Lady Esquire","Crash Course",and we played are debut gig with the "Twisted Minds",and The "Neo's" at "The Ray Ellis Dance Studio, with much respected "Rob Wright" from the band "No Means No,who went on to be very popular, and rightly so!!!!!!!Soon we were putting on DOA gigs and so forth on our own with poor old "Grogs" doe up front and a lot of good people helping out.I then had broken up with my gf and wanted to get over to "Vancouver",where "Android",had earlier moved, and found a friend and drummer named "Jim Laird",who was born in the "Phillipines"(American),and grew up in "Martinez" California,a swanky suburb just outside "San Fransisco",where they grew some sweeeeeeeeeeeeet bud,I was later t find thanks to one of the guys in the Cali band called "Pariah",who 's singer was an old pal of Jims.We got rid of are bass player "Grog" as he wanted us to wait a couple of months for him to get there, and we were starving living in what was basically a squat til we talked to the East Indian landlord, and payed him $400 clams a month for the old beat delapitated pad.I went to visit "Victoria" one weekend and "Johnny Frymire" had learned all the songs, and very well at that,I was stoked we had a new bass player, and a really kewl cat.In a while,Android,John, and myself "Neil" were all living at the house, while "Jym" had his house in "North Vancouver where we would take the sea bus over to jam.The old "HOC" house started to be a hang out,and many party's went on there, I remember doing a lot of acid at this time and MDA, along with black beauties and black hash, I brought my large record collection there but this big fat innocent skinhead who weighed about 375 Lbs. of inner city hillbilly use to rip a record or two off so he could eat, He was a good body guard though but a lil' inept. We played a lot of gigs at this time with "Death Sentence", DOA,Black Flag,The Gun Club,Scream,No Means No,Personality Crisis,Husker Du,The Fitz, Bill of Rights etc... , and we were really getting tight and so was our scene, Our EP.. was released at about this time and stayed on the CITR UBC radio charts for quite a few weeks at 1,this really helped us leap ahead having, also having an LP out with 24 track sound (Total Sounds West) was good.We were then offered a tour of the Western US, We had fun gigs in San Francisco, Sacramento, LA (We snuck on a big gig with Fear and The Circle Jerks, Toxic Reasons, Vandals. It was held in an old Olympic boxing Arena and the gig was huge with cameras, the big old ones with guys moonlighting them from ABC and so on. There were 3 huge headbanging circles, nutso, crazy, and rookies, it was one huge gig and every band rocked. We then played with the UK Subs on a second tour and also with Decry and TSOL, etc. I then remembering going back to Canada in the back of a truck after eating 6 hits of window pane acid but it was shit acid but amused me on the way home and did it ever feel good to be back in Vancouver, and as soon as we were back we did a small Canadian tour that was hellish and very decadent as in certain people shooting half gram whacks of MDA up there arms and I remembered hearing this sawing sound and they were grating teeth, no fun, We abandoned the tour and John and Jym left so Android and I kept the band going with the help of certain drummers and bass players and then a big fight happened between the band because a girl was hit by our bass player and we later found out was his roommate but it happened and some people were going on about women abusers and after all my energy and cash, I formed AKOB, HOC went on with a few different line ups and then Android and I were going to really make it tight and do it right, we figure he was so happy, he OD'ed celebrating and that was the end of poor young "Android" I later reformed the band in Andrews memory and still do to this date, this summer we were lucky to have a chance to play the old songs with the help of some good friends, and played with "The Day Glow Abortions",and had there US drummer playing tight as heck for HOC.The gig was foe a 2 CD "Book Releas" called "All Your Ears Can Hear",written by "Rick Long",with the help of others in the old "Victoria" schene which the book is all about, all the aerly bands from the new wave in "Victoria",59 bands in all,and 79 songs, two by HOC called "Low",and "!1999".Also on the PHC Canada CD you will find us kicking ass with the original version of "Way Down South".The band is here for many a more year,I hope,as I "Screaming King Embo" keep the legacy and legend going with the help of many awesome friends, and old die hard fans,I always think of my fallen comrade "Android) RIP,and I can feel him kicking me in the ass to play a lot more,so plans are being made for some new recordings early next 2008,check in,I will have new updates ..
