Welcome to the official my space page of J Armand who is also the artist formerly known as Dj Xsistential. Joel is a native of Tucson. Arizona and is involved in the electronic dance scene and movement of the region. It all started around the year 1995 or so with some of the underground parties in Tucson and Phoenix with talent like Markus Schulz at the beginning of his career and Inertia and Z-Trip, Lego and the Bombshelter djs as they called themselves, as well as many other talented artists. Within the next couple of years the progressive trance out of the U.K. started gaining attention with the help of artists like Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold and ATB. Joel fell in love with trance and started playing progressive and melodic trance and also moved into some hard trance, hard energy and hard house. Joel has played many underground parties as Dj Xsistential and has played at events with the likes of artists like Dj Keoki, Jon Bishop, Scott Stubbs, Simply Jeff, Nicholas Bennison, Thee-O, Dj Craze, and many others. In the recent past years Joel was offered the opportunity to share a residency at Sharks nightclub in Tucson with the then resident Dj Dr. Who?. Joel began playing on a weekly basis and became oriented with playing many different genres of electronic music branching out into breaks, house and drum & bass as well as trance and techno. It has now been over two years of holding this residency and Joel is now playing under the name J Armand which is part of his real name. At the present the focus is on the styles of progressive and electro house as well as funky house and breaks with straight elctro thrown in as well. It's what people are in to dancing to right now. Joel has now taken over the thursdays at Sharks in collaboration with Mixology Entertainment out of Tucson. Thursdays are more of a mainstream night with the emphasis being on top-40, hip-hop, and dance with some house and breaks thrown in. Now on Thursdays we are having spcecai events such as the Dj Aphrodite show on the 15th of November, 2007. Joel has recently been booked in Califronia has his sights set on the rest of the world.
