Nickowas born into the world of stand up comedy back in 1995 whenshe appeared on BBC 1's "The Stand up show" as part ofthe open mic comedy awards final. This was only her third attemptat stand up and looking back thinks it would have been better ifshe had actually decided stand up comedy was the career for herbefore embarking on something so public.
Nickodid stand up for 3 years before swapping it for a career in music, although throughout this time she continued to write for variousmagazines and publications such as Deadpan, Comedy Review and had a few short stories published in the book "Dates from Hell". Shedipped her toe back into the comedy waters in 1999 when she becamepart of the experimental comedy/music machine "The Paul FergusonProject" until they disbanded back in 2001. Since then she has roamed the world spreading her own brand of music and comedy as well as becoming a regular guest on Nicola Heywood Thomas BBC Radio talk show. "
Joestumbled into the world of comedy by accident. A musician andsound engineer by trade he was was approached by Nicko at the startof 2001 to help record a CD and a great partnership was born.Notonly has his band Wilmer performed all over the UK, theyhave also had heir songs played on various television shows - includingJara and Nuts & Bolts. Joe was also was involved with the soundpost production on the Robin of Sherwood DVD and has also appearedalong side Michael Winner in the Esure Commercials (but he likesto keep that a secret).
Nickoand Joe fit in just as well in both comedy clubs and music venues- and with the growing population of their Internet followers -can be found bringing their own unique brand of hour long musicalwhimsy up and down the UK. The success of their show "SongsWe Think We Know" at the 2004 Melbourne Comedy Festival, Nicko's 2005 Melbourneshow "Appetite for Distraction" with fellow comedian Silky, their critically acclaimed show, "Nicko and Joe Sell out" which they performed at The Underbelly at the Edinburgh fringe in 2005,their sell out Christmas shows and popular disaster broadcast play"Death Plays Black" go to prove that this flexible comedyduo can turn their hand to anything.
