My drawing of Genesis was autographed by everyone in the band at the Pittsburgh gig this past September! I scanned the article (with photos)from the Charlotte Observer!
I'm trying to refinance my house. I'm one of those people in the USA with an adjustable rate mortgage that is about to adjust and send my payment up an extra $300 a month. Fortunately, refinancing is an option for me. Unfortunately, many people in this country are losing their homes in foreclosure.
My husband and I recently saw Ron White in concert. I'd never seen live stand up before. It was a lot of fun!
We also saw a Pink Floyd tribute band called The Pink Floyd Experience ! They were phenomenal! Catch them if you can!
I won the monthly photo contest for January at The Clarks website! I got an autographed poster! The photos that I submitted are at their Flicker album - mine are the first 5 on page 2, and the winning photo is number 108 - a black and white of Greg, their bassist! SWEET!
My latest "Genesis" adventure - a trip to Philly to see the tribute band from Quebec, Turn It On Again. These guys are AMAZING! Visit their site at http://www.turnitonagain.com . I've uploaded a bunch of pics of the show and the party after the show with all my friends from the Gensis-music fan site. I finally got to meet the "Philly crowd"! Let me tell ya, going to Philly was like going home to family, and the party afterward at the Keswick Tavern ROCKED!
While in Philly, I visited Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell , Mütter Museum , and I took a trip to south Philly to get a cheese steak! I went to Pat's AND Geno's - my verdict? Pat's "wit" plus Cheez Wiz, mushrooms, peppers, and cherry peppers - hands down! And the man at the window looked and sounded like Joe Pesci!
Next few projects that I am working on are Simon Collins, a current Peter Gabriel, and a 5 man classic Genesis line-up with Gabriel and Hackett. I also have an idea of doing each classic era member individually, with an image of them THEN melded with an image of them NOW. It looks REALLY COOL in my head! LOL! After that, I'll be working on more celebrities of film and music to build my portfolio. I need to add people of recognition.
I specialize in various forms of drawing from portraiture to fantasy. I'm particularly interested in music performers, as I have a great passion for music and drawing. Can't think of anything I'd like more than to combine the two. My medium of choice is nero (negro) pencil, followed by graphite, Prismacolor pencils, then pen & ink. Depending on the complexity of the piece, it takes me anywhere from 2 to 7 days to complete a portrait. I am starting my own website: Ginasdrawings.com . There will be more to the site once I start to design it...
I do accept commissions. Please contact me if you are interested in a beautiful keepsake of your favorite performer or a gift for a friend or love one. My drawings are wonderful gifts for anniversaries, weddings, and more.
SO....A little more about ME: I'm originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area (GO STEELERS) !, but moved to Charlotte, NC 4 years ago.
My career outside of art for the last 16 years is that of a medical laboratory technician, running all those lab tests that your doctor orders on you.
I have 2 daughters from my first marriage (they are 12 and 19), and I have one step daughter from my new marriage - she is 16. Our home now has 3 cats, 1 miniature schnauzer doggie, and a tank full of fish (mostly colorful guppies).
I had gastric bypass surgery in October and have passed my half way mark for weight loss! WOO HOO!
I'm a big all eras GENESIS fan. If you visit the forums at Genesis-music.com, you'll see me posting there as "mattersfact2".
I'm also a Fleetwood Mac fan, but actually I'm more of a Buckingham Nicks fan. I like them both, solo and in the band.
