About Me

My drawing of Genesis was autographed by everyone in the band at the Pittsburgh gig this past September! I scanned the article (with photos)from the Charlotte Observer!

I was very lucky that the band was able to see the drawing. They have given me many years of joy through their music, and I wanted to give a little bit back to them.
I'm trying to refinance my house. I'm one of those people in the USA with an adjustable rate mortgage that is about to adjust and send my payment up an extra $300 a month. Fortunately, refinancing is an option for me. Unfortunately, many people in this country are losing their homes in foreclosure.
My husband and I recently saw Ron White in concert. I'd never seen live stand up before. It was a lot of fun!
We also saw a Pink Floyd tribute band called The Pink Floyd Experience ! They were phenomenal! Catch them if you can!
I won the monthly photo contest for January at The Clarks website! I got an autographed poster! The photos that I submitted are at their Flicker album - mine are the first 5 on page 2, and the winning photo is number 108 - a black and white of Greg, their bassist! SWEET!
My latest "Genesis" adventure - a trip to Philly to see the tribute band from Quebec, Turn It On Again. These guys are AMAZING! Visit their site at http://www.turnitonagain.com . I've uploaded a bunch of pics of the show and the party after the show with all my friends from the Gensis-music fan site. I finally got to meet the "Philly crowd"! Let me tell ya, going to Philly was like going home to family, and the party afterward at the Keswick Tavern ROCKED!
While in Philly, I visited Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell , Mütter Museum , and I took a trip to south Philly to get a cheese steak! I went to Pat's AND Geno's - my verdict? Pat's "wit" plus Cheez Wiz, mushrooms, peppers, and cherry peppers - hands down! And the man at the window looked and sounded like Joe Pesci!
Next few projects that I am working on are Simon Collins, a current Peter Gabriel, and a 5 man classic Genesis line-up with Gabriel and Hackett. I also have an idea of doing each classic era member individually, with an image of them THEN melded with an image of them NOW. It looks REALLY COOL in my head! LOL! After that, I'll be working on more celebrities of film and music to build my portfolio. I need to add people of recognition.
I specialize in various forms of drawing from portraiture to fantasy. I'm particularly interested in music performers, as I have a great passion for music and drawing. Can't think of anything I'd like more than to combine the two. My medium of choice is nero (negro) pencil, followed by graphite, Prismacolor pencils, then pen & ink. Depending on the complexity of the piece, it takes me anywhere from 2 to 7 days to complete a portrait. I am starting my own website: Ginasdrawings.com . There will be more to the site once I start to design it...
I do accept commissions. Please contact me if you are interested in a beautiful keepsake of your favorite performer or a gift for a friend or love one. My drawings are wonderful gifts for anniversaries, weddings, and more.
SO....A little more about ME: I'm originally from the Pittsburgh, PA area (GO STEELERS) !, but moved to Charlotte, NC 4 years ago.
My career outside of art for the last 16 years is that of a medical laboratory technician, running all those lab tests that your doctor orders on you.
I have 2 daughters from my first marriage (they are 12 and 19), and I have one step daughter from my new marriage - she is 16. Our home now has 3 cats, 1 miniature schnauzer doggie, and a tank full of fish (mostly colorful guppies).
I had gastric bypass surgery in October and have passed my half way mark for weight loss! WOO HOO!
I'm a big all eras GENESIS fan. If you visit the forums at Genesis-music.com, you'll see me posting there as "mattersfact2".
I'm also a Fleetwood Mac fan, but actually I'm more of a Buckingham Nicks fan. I like them both, solo and in the band.

My Interests

Artist specializing in pencil portraits.

I like all things Genesis, karaoke, classic NES games, messing around on my computer, listening to music, playing guitar, and dressing up like Stevie Nicks!

I'd like to meet:

After the Pittsburgh Genesis show, I met:
Daryl Stuermer - Chester Thompson - Mike Rutherford

I would still like to meet:
Phil Collins - Tony Banks - Peter Gabriel

They autographed my drawing that day, and as luck would have it, they were staying in my hotel that night! I did see Phil, but I did not get to speak with him. I never saw Tony: I think he left before the others for the airport the next morning. I was told by Daryl, Chester, and Mike, that EVERYONE liked the drawing very much, and they thanked me for the framed prints of the drawing that I gave to them.

Others that I would like to meet...
Pete Townshend - Simon Collins
Stevie Nicks - Lindsey Buckingham
Jimmy Page - Robert Plant
Sean Connery - Anthony Hopkins
Arnie Palmer (again) - Hulk Hogan
Robin Williams - Rocco Sifredi (wink)
Johnny Depp - Lisa Loeb
Neil Diamond - Donnie Iris
Ann and Nancy Wilson
Frank Frazetta - Boris Vallejo
Julie Bell - Rowena
Luis Royo - David Delamare
Johanna Pieterman - George Romero
Hines Ward - Franco Harris (again)
Augusta and Donato, my gr-grandparents (deceased)
most of the long time cast of Days of Our Lives

Which Genesis Song Are You
Abacab: Feeling random? Thought so. You just blurt out stuff that probably doesn't make sense at this moment. One moment you're covered with cellophane, the next there's a crack in the mirror. First off, fix that darned windowpane, it's got a hole in it. Maybe your heating bill can be reduced. Wow, that was a random comment!Noteable Quote:"He's in anywhere. (Abacab)"

Here's a video of Turn It On Again performing "I Know What I Like" at the Keswick in Glenside, PA on March 29, 2008. Martin Levac is so much like Phil Collins....it's SCARY!

The next 3 videos are clips of Turn It On Again performing parts of Supper's Ready the same night.

Ok...I don't really look like ANY of these people...

But I do sorta resemble an overweight Nancy McKeon from The Facts of Life days...

Books:

I don't read very often, but I have enjoyed the "Flowers In the Attic" series by V. C. Andrews, a number of Stephen King novels, and "The Da Vinci Code". I tend to collect books on faeries, mythology, world religions, art instruction, and art collections of my favorite artists. If you haven't read Chapter & Verse and you are a Genesis fan - get off this computer and go get it! It's a phenomenal book!

Currently reading "Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt. Getting ready for my trip to Savannah! ;-)

Heroes:

Anyone who risks/sacrifices their life for another soul. When you think about it - that is a WHOLE lot of people.

.:Venus:.
"You thrive on balance in all aspects of your life. You have a great deal of passion and when it comes to love, you like to play games. You have a tendency to search for something better, a search which always seems to come up short. You have difficulty finding satisfaction in life, but you have a great ability to get along with almost anyone."
