There are many ways that musicians have responded when it came time to put out a sophomore album. With the members of Reason to Rebel, they had something to prove. In two years, a lot can happen. The sway of popular vote can shift between political sides. A natural disaster can influence a nation’s outlook on environmental issues. A war that once seemed destined short-lived, can begin to look like the military conundrums of yesteryear. And in two years, much-in-demand members of one band can release multiple recordings with over five different acts. An area once unheralded, can give birth to a buzzing music scene. And with a band as meticulous in songwriting and detail-driven as these boys from North County San Diego, a masterpiece can emerge. Rarely do you find a band whose live performances resound with such intensity, give so much attention to the craft of being a musician. Upon the release of Reason to Rebel’s much anticipated second effort, “An Arranged Mistakeâ€, most wouldn’t think twice about the two year wait since “The Politrix†hit stores in 2005. It is obvious upon first listen that what you’re hearing is a band whose matured well beyond their years. They’ve managed to walk the line between fast, hard-hitting music, groove-oriented ensembles, and sad, beautifully aching melodies flavored with a haunting message of our troubled times. You’d think that’d be enough. But the members of Reason to Rebel set the bar no lower than perfection. They feel that if not burdened by everyday financial responsibilities, more could be accomplished; like touring the entire globe, for instance. No goal is unreachable when you really put your mind to it. And if this band has their way, they’ll be making music for years to come...
