About Me

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to sell me something (which includes home business opportunities) or show me your tits, don't bother, your friend request will be denied. If I selected to add you as a friend it is either because I already know you personally or you seem like a really interesting person to know. There are lots of cool people in the world and it's impossible to meet everyone personally so we have MySpace. So that sort of explains why you may have received a friend request from someone on the other side of the planet whom you will probably never meet. I also like to have a good mixture of people and dogs and cats as friends. Dogs and cats are good people.I have been a working bass player for over 25 years. I play seven instruments and am in the process of recording some of my own stuff (finally). I am color blind so people tell me that my favorite color is corduroy. I grew up in Pennsylvania and I visit there often. I miss being able to go to D.C, NYC, Philly or down the shore at the drop of a hat and there is no fresh seafood in Kansas.

My Interests

History, music, ManUtd football, gardening, art, knitting, cabinetmaking, fishing on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, college basketball, cats, dogs, SuDoKu, crossword puzzles, trying to learn Dansk, wine and cooking.I work for a suicide prevention hotline and spend my days talking to people who aren't happy. Doing this kind of work is very fulfilling and I think it really helps to keep me grounded and to appreciate the things I have.

I'd like to meet:

A pint of Boddington's Pub Ale or a pint of Carlsberg.I think all bass players should know each other.

Music:

My musical tastes change over time and without warning. Sometimes I like a player but not the band they're in, it's weird. Here are some favorites: Duke Ellington, Zappa, Aquarium Rescue Unit, The Sundays, Chemical Brothers, Splashdown, Beth Orton, Pixies, Donald Roeser, The Who, Andrew Latimer, Allman Brothers, John Coltrane, Big Country, Todd Rundgren, Radio Birdman, Dead Can Dance, Jimmy Vaughan, The Waifs, Jimmy Herring, Sade, Bach, Prince, Echobelly, Charlie Parker, Terry Kath, Dave Alvin, Al Hirt, Nick Drake, Steve Earle, Mike Watt, Petula Clark, Lowell George, Peter Murphy, The Dead, J. Geils, Chris Whitley, The Paladins, Paul Kelly, Beatles... "That's correct. "Bach had 20 children because his organ didn't have any stops." --Leo Kottke

Movies:

The Princess Bride, Back to the Future, Footloose and a few others. I like bad movies such as Cannibal Women in the Avacado Jungle of Death with Bill Maher and Adrienne Barbeau - had enough? Really, I don't have the attention span to sit through a movie and that's ok because we're both terrible about seeing movies. We even subscribed to NetFlix at one point but canceled it because we still didn't watch them. Yes, I realize that is pathetic.

Television:

Deadliest Catch, M*A*S*H, Dirty Jobs, Gilmore Girls, the Soccer Channel.

Books:

Yes, lots of books. Italo Calvino, Dr. Seuss, Umberto Eco, Washington Irving, Frost, P.D. Eastman, Mark Kurlansky, Lord Byron, Poe, Harry Potter series, Where the Wild Things Are. Where would we be without free Shakespeare at the Delacorte? Thanks to Dan Brown for stirring up some shit.

Heroes:

"Your position doesn't give you the right to command. It only imposes upon you the duty to live your life that others can receive your orders without being humiliated." --Dag Hammarskjold
