The Manor

About Me

The Manor was originally formed as a one-man project by Christofer Wallin in 2002. After a couple of demos spawning good reviews in leading Swedish music press, The Manor as a band took shape.

After cementing a solid unit in 2003, The Manor has performed gigs throughout Sweden including some of the more renowned Swedish music festivals. The current line-up experiments with computers as well as different traditional effects to create an emotionally provocative sound.

These experiments were developed further in the studio during the recording of the eleven track debut album, Sparks of light will guide us tonight. The album was released in December and was incredibly well received by Swedish music-press.

Sounds Like: 7 of 10 in Sonic by Erik Augustin Palm
“They have been praised twice before in Sonic, so our expectations were pretty high upon listening to their full-length debut. Fortunately, “Sparks of light will guide us tonight” fulfills those expectations and proves they were not misguiding. The music permeates with an intensive, fever-like emotion. It is suggestive, unbelievably captivating and sometimes even uncomtortably moving.”

“… needless to say The Manor have created one of the most interesting albums we have heard from Sweden this past year (2006) … a mysterious piece of music so spine-tingling and immediate you can touch it.”

5 of 5 in MUZIC.SE by Edward Adolfsson
“The Manor is truly a breath of fresh air for my, occasionally, much to weary ears. It is hard not to listen to this record again and again. Possibly, it’s the suggistive vocals or the bombastic carpets of sound that fascinate? In any case, these boys have put together one of the best records I have heard in 2006.”

Dagens Nyheter – Wahlöf & Wennö
“With a pinch of Doors-organs, a teaspoon of Spiritualized-psychadelia and a full fist of stiff staring Silverbullit blackness, they whip out all tendencies towards gaiety from our rediculous office bodies. There are no soft musical pats on the back, just mean indian burns. We roar for more and dream about a black Christmas with The Manor.”
