About Me

There are those who would have you believe Rock'n'Roll has had it's day. Singing Barbie dolls, bland ' boy band ' pop and corporate rock dominate the marketplace, sound familiar? Plastic pop burgers sold on drive thru radio. The boys and girls have been sent back to the disco and those who are about to rock take their seats in the stadium and gawp through goggle box eyes at giant video screens making icons out of the little souls on the set. The 90's, sold in as the caring decade, sold out as the collecting decade, Christ, you could even buy a limited edition chocolate bar. The glossy monthly music / lifestyle magazines sucking corporate cock, revising, restyling, remixing, remastering, reissuing, reselling, retarding..... It is re-assuring then that all power in the future may not rely on microchips or the emasculated products of the corporates.Following on from 2005s Nothing Is Straight In My House album, The saints recorded their new album Imperious Delirium ( which will be released on Monday 23rd October). The album features 11 new songs recorded at Amsterdams Stollywood studios.Imperious Delirium is further evidence of The Saints new found vitality! The intention of Imperious Delirium was to capture the raw power of The Saints as a reinvigorated three-piece live band. Chris Bailey is again shown to be somewhat of an experimentalist. This time around he is not only the singer - the vocals are better than ever - but he is also the only guitarist on the album. Backed by Caspar Wijnberg (bass) and Pete Wilkinson (drums) who once again prove themselves the perfect foil, The Saints have managed to make a deceptively pop album with a minimum of orchestration. Its a classic pop/rock album that uses the "less is more" maxim.Losing their "lead guitarist" midway through a world tour the band were pleasantly surprised to discover that far from being a hindrance the loss was in fact a blessing. It liberated the band allowing them to get to the heart of their songs. Transferring this dynamic to the studio, The Saints recorded/mixed Imperious Delirium in just three weeks. "We spent three weeks in a basement locked inside a Saintsworld bubble and emerged with forty odd minutes of music made entirely by the three of us (no outside influences involved), less is more, no fillers only killers."So while the corporates continue to churn out their homogenised sugar coated disco pap & bland pop rock The Saints remain committed to releasing records for those of us who prefer music that doesn't reek of exploitation or seek to condescend to us as though we were mindless morons.
