ANGHER was basically a one man project, the cellist-guitarist Greg Korniluk who had in mind creating his own cello metal project after being the Apocalyptica's guest on the album Reflections. He had the will to find a new way to incorporate a cello into a metal band by mixing a heavy cello sound with guitar. As the result was concluant, the 1st compositions with both instruments started end of 2004. Beginning of 2005, the idea to turn this project into a real band became obvious. After several months of intense musicians research, the guitarist Thibault Abrial, the bassplayer Hugo Coste and the drummer Yves-Marie Lebert joined the band to form the strong base of the line up. As there was no way to be an instrumental band with guest singers, the band tried out several singers before finding the great voice of the Brazilian singer Adriano Almeida. ANGHER is influenced by american heavy rock such as Metallica, Black Label Society as well as the groovy thrash rythmics of Slayer. The mix of cello/guitar/bass gives a unique heavy sound to the band.
