OK, let's set something out from the start, you can't have my beats if you don't know me, or someone I work with already. I probably won't 'holla back bro', since I get a lot of email. View My: Pics | Videos I've gone by the name Mevi since 1991. I used to be a Graffiti writer in the 80's and early 90's and short names are quick to throw up. MEVI was kind of an abbreviation of The Main Event (I went by the name Event before that).

Before that I had a bunch of stupid names, but since it was the 80's, can I be forgiven calling myself 'Rapix' or 'DJ Mix Controller'?.... I'm a Hip Hop Producer - You could say a beatmaker, but you won't catch me emailing beats out for any muppet to put their 16s on! Get me in the same room with the artist. The internet is great and I've even made REAL LIFE FRIENDS after finding people on MySpace, etc., but lets all get out of the house and work on those social skills, right?

I started making Hip Hop back in 1990 on a 4-track, went on to work on a range of hardware samplers and studio outboard over the years. I sold all of that and went PC based some years back and now it's my PC laptop, a PC desktop, Technics, dusty vinyl & my trusty Yamaha NS10s. Not afraid of studios and I'll rent one if needed, or rent in a Neumann or two.

I do a whole buch of other stuff. Video editing (no camera work), sound engineering, album assembly & pre-master DDPi (I don't master albums anymore), multi-media odd-jobs, 2D graphics, clean the bathroom, vacuum the house, etc. I don't do websites. If you have a techy problem no-one else can figure out, drop me an email and I'll try to find the solution. Or point you to someone who can.

BLADE

I've known Blade on and off since the early 90s. I have mixed some studio and live tracks for him and produced his promotional coverdisk for the February 2006 copy of HHC magazine. Damn, I even got roped in on some backing vocals once.

Blade has retired from music now. I count Blade amongst my closest friends.

METIS

I was recommended to Metis by DJ Sam Seed and not long after we were in the studio recording Chameleon (out soon on Roark Records). We're just warming up for recording a third track together. I'm also in the video for Chameleon, but you'll need to be quick with the pause button to catch me.

Metis is working towards a high profile album release soon.

BUIST DA MANO

Buist is a friend and co-collaborator in The Manoz for about seventeen years. I have so far produced four tracks for Buist as he starts his solo career. In addition to that I brought to life Buist's Rhyme Force design concept as seen on his MySpace page.

Buist and I continue to work on new material, which he will be taking on the road with him.

ELLIE HOLLAND

Ellie contacted me after finding my music on Myspace. Our first track together was Time and since then, we have recorded another five tracks introducing her to Metis on Chameleon & Why Do You Do Me Wrong.

Ellie has built a strong reputation for her songwriting and live performances. She works very hard and success is sure to follow.

AINSLEY BURROWS

I met Ainsley when The Manoz supported him at a University gig. We got him in a studio before he flew back to Brooklyn and recorded vocals for a track produced by Mista Quiz.

Some months passed and I later did the beat for the track Baby on his current album. Ainsley stars in a new Guiness advert.

THE MANOZ

The Manoz was my first band and we recorded together on and off from 1990 to 2006. We completed a ton of tracks, a couple of videos, toured and had some label interest, but never had a release of our own, instead producing for other artists: Blade, Dr. Octagon, Ironbridge, etc.

The Manoz line up was Mevi, Buist, Mista Quiz, Filfee Franko & Agee. Artwork by Matt Bailey.

DR. OCTAGON

I've never met or communicated with Kool Keith.. it was a Pro Tools project in the post.

Mista Quiz and myself produced the remix of Trees, by Dr. Octagon. It was submitted to the label, but as I understand it, Casual Records didn't get to put out the single or album.. or something.
