About Me

WORKING ON NEW ALBUM (nearly there).Currently on BBC Intoducing tour and teaching Mcing, Djing etc to youth round the UK as part of the Defcon Workshop team (defconworkshops.org.uk).Mr Basista, experimental freestyle lyricist and musical force, has released his debut solo album THUNK. The album is a culmination of his life’s musical experiences so far. Since the age of 14 and his first mic battle, Mr Basista has been heavily involved in the UK music scene. An original member of the Defcon Crew, talented pianist, vocalist and producer, Basista has rapped and played alongside Britain’s hip hop elite. Mr Basista’s sound takes influence from his varied and experimental life journey through music – he has hosted a number of Regular Live Nights, including hip hop radio show on Juice FM. He has gigged live all over the country for the last decade, sharing a stage with Skinnyman, Nicky Blackmarket, Jehst, Mr thing, Phi Life Cypher, Blu rum 13, Task Force, Killa Kella, Dr Syntax, Terra Firma, K–lashnekoff & Foreign Beggars to name a few. 2005 saw him ripping up centre stage in a headline line set alongside Live Funk collective The True Ingredients at Ministry of Sound.Basista’s passion burns not only for hip hop but he believes exists to be indulged extensively, from a little Dub step to electro, indie funk and jazz. Originally from South East London, Mr Basista now resides in Kent – Mr B has been writing, recording and producing his debut solo album, scribing his own experimental journey in the freestyle, unconscious mind…THUNK IS BORN.Mr B simply says: ‘Fun, funky shit.’ THUNK is out now and available to buy on CD.FROMwww.mrbasista.co.uk,ROUGH TRADE - EAST LONDON,RARE KIND - BRIGHTON,SOUTH - TUNBRIDGE WELLS,
