RAW, born Rhys Jason Wharton on March 28th 1984 in the beautiful island of St. Thomas U.S.VI. Rhys was raised by his Father (McDonald Wharton), his brother and two sisters, his mother left when he was about eight years old. Being the youngest of the siblings, he often got into trouble at home which escalated to trouble in the streets. After avoiding an assault and arson charge he decided to leave the streets and concentrate on his long time goal of becoming a rapper. This journey began by mimicking songs by other artists in school among friends. One day one of his teachers whom he respected, to him he had great talent, he was very impressed and told him to pursue a rap career professionally. Thus RAW was born.In 1999 Raw and his friend Dyce formed a group called young Dawgs. Shortly after, they were signed to a local label called Tri-Storm Entertainment, which gave them their first taste of success. The group had there first hit song on the radio and was locally well known and sort after, however like all good things there must be an end. Due to creative differences, the group and the label parted ways. In 2002 Raws father made a decision to move them to Florida, he though this would be great exposure for his son, but also he needed to get him out of the bad element he was following. So in June of 2002 they moved to Jacksonville, FL to live with his brother and two sisters that had moved several years earlier.Being an entrepreneur, it didnt take long for Raw to hook up with a local DJ named mouse (Sha..ron Murphy). The two had the same goal; To make it and make it BIG, so they founded Rebel Heart Entertainment(RHE). After two years, Rebel Heart is a well known name in the local music scene and Raw has managed to imprint his name as one of the best rappers in Jacksonville. The now 21yr old rapper has recorded and written up to 70 songs in anticipation of finding a record label. He self produced and released his first mix tape titled Ready and Waiting the meaning of his name RAW, which sold over 5000 copies.Often referred to as the next era in rap Raws goal is to become a powerhouse in the entertainment industry, while putting Rebel Heart Entertainment, his home town St.Thomas (rock city), and his new town Jacksonville, fl (Duval) on the map. With the right backing and exposure, Raw feels him and Rebel Heart could be a force to be reckoned with.
