07/01/08 - UPDATE: OK, I'VE BEEN QUIET ABOUT THIS PROJECT FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, SO BIG APOLOGIES FOR ANY ARTISTS THAT HAVE NOT HEARD FROM ME AND ARE NOT UPDATED ON THE LATEST WITH THE PROJECT!
THE LATEST NEWS IS THAT WE HAVE PROMO COPIES OF THE COMPILATION READY. I'M SLOWLY MAKING SURE ALL OF THE FEATURED ARTISTS GET A COPY, AND AM ALSO TAKING THE TIME OUT TO UPDATE EACH OF YOU ONE AT A TIME EITHER BY PHONE OR EMAIL ABOUT THE LATEST ON THE PROJECT - ONCE I FEEL EVERYONE IS HAPPY WITH THE WAY THIS PROJECT IS GOING TO BE RELEASED I'LL DO A REAL UPDATE OF THIS PAGE, WITH AUDIO, ARTWORK ETC ETC SO THAT THE RELEASE CAN START TO BE PROMOTED.
THE CURRENT RELEASE DATE IS APRIL.
This is a project to promote Hip Hop artists by putting out high quality compilation's (not mixtapes) of artists that feel they would benifit from the promotion.
There will hopefully be 1 volume a year, depending on how the first one goes.
We don't want any rights to the tracks, the artists own their track.
We will be selling these CD's very cheaply in order to sell enough to spread the word about the featured artists. As a result we may only break even, but any profit made by the compilation will go back into the project (not into our pockets) to help us put more volumes out and expand the project to help artists further.
The first volume will mainly be UK/US artists but its going to be a global thing by the time we reach the next few volumes with a bit of luck, moving forward with producers and rappers from everywhere so it will be a good networking tool for everyone.
Even though we can't pay artists directly we can offer them the opertunity to sell copies of the CD for a agreed percentage of the profit.
