Sancho are an upbeat concoction with dark, playful lyrics. Sonically adventurous, ambiguous but direct, messy yet accessible. The sound has been compared to Dexy's Midnight Runners, Roxy Music, Serge Gainsbough, Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, Pulp, Orange Juice, Scott Walker, Stereolab and Beefheart.
Sancho combine 50s doo-wap with early 80s pure pop, raw DIY aesthetics with subtle electronics and use it to songs that take in vampiric try-hards, sexually primed town councilors at war, lady murderessess, stowaways, ghosts, cheap cider and romantic entanglements on the battlefield.
Although starting out a few years ago as a bedroom electronic project with releases on Wagram, Superglider and Seed Records, Sancho has grown into a polysexual mutant, where boy-girl vocals alternately carress and fight walst downstairs brass, strings and accordions share an ex council tenancy with choppy rhythms and cheap guitars.
Wait Don't Wait is ten tracks recorded on a shit laptop of full-on pop racket. The whole band have bought ideas into it. It's a proper album length (under 40 minutes) and is going to sound great on vinyl.
With Chris on his sabbatical we are joined by Andy on guitar duties. Andy maybe familar to some and even loved by a (sizeable) few. He owns his own Sly and the Family Stone drinks coasters. He records as Yufei Chowder
We will be playing live throughout the year
