About Me

Zahra Hashemian is a vocalist, songwriter, and belly dancer in New York City. She last collaborated with Matt Dickey from In The Loop and recorded Lick Your Wounds with producer Chris Young. Zahra performed as a belly dancer for this years 2008 Whitney Biennial and also at Webster Hall. She studied voice with Wendy Butler, Julie Hardy, award winning jazz composer & vocalist, and Stephanie Welge, opera singer under the tutelage of Stephen Crawford (conductor at the Metropolitan Opera). She had the opportunity to sing at CBGB’s Gallery with Alizarin Crimson in 2001, upon moving to New York. Zahra began working with God’s Own Medicine in 2005 at Duo Tone Audio Group. Her musical collaboration and production of Resurrect Myself with Sean Hagerty was performed at Club Sol for Temptu’s 25th Anniversary party.The song SexFiend has been heard at major NYC clubs such as Element (aka the ole’ Bank), Albion, and Avalon (the former Limelight) as well on NY Underground Radio www.live365.com DJ Ian Ford. Zahra often performs at Patrick Soluri’s Salon. The sessions are featured on The Salon podcast on !Tunes.
