Music. With added timpani.
I'm always open to meeting new people, particularly in Dublin or Glasgow - and happy to chat to people from anywhere.
Where to begin? Well, with Anuna, obviously (did I mention the profile page here on MySpace Music?). Beyond that my tastes are broad, from classical to pop, traditional to mouth music. Highlights for me are Benjamin Britten, Tori Amos, Bothy Band, John McGlynn, Damien Dempsey... stop me now before it gets too much!
Again I like a broad spectrum, from arthouse down. I particularly love Pedro Almodovar, Gael Garcia Bernal, Ang Lee, blah, etc.
I'd love to say that I reject the crassness of television, and while away my culture-filled evenings with Debussy, the poetry of William Blake, and a flute of Krug, while in my salon discussing the ways forward for normative positivism. While that's certainly true, I also adore bubble-gum television on my enormous plasma, and like the West Wing, Shameless, political programming, documentaries, and pretty much anything else.
It might be no exaggeration to say that I am a whore of literature - I read everything from interesting books on advanced grammar (though I don't use it, obviously) to political biographies, to light-hearted Oprah-style books and Robert Jordan.
My heroes tend to be people I know privately: particular friends and family. They are most certainly not celebrities. Apart, obviously, from Gael Garcia Bernal.
