Kitch-en is a Contemporary Urban Art Gallery, Shop & Graphic Design Studio. We are an independent artist led space in Middlesbrough, North East England. We exhibit and sell contemporary and urban artwork by national artists with a focus on supporting emerging local and regional artists. Within the gallery space is housed a shop area, where we sell everything from greeting cards and plush toys to bags and t-shirts, all of which are hand made by indepenent artists and designers from around the country.
We believe that art is a form of entertainment just like film or music and should be enjoyed by everyone. We also believe that there are strong links between all different creative disciplines and try to encourage those links wherever possible, be it fashion, graphic design, writing, music or fine art etc.
We welcome all visitors to the gallery and try our best to keep the space as inviting and un-intimidating as possible. If you have a spare 5 minutes when visiting Middlesbrough why not pop by for a browse, we even have a comfy sofa you can relax on and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
Take a look at our website for more information about us: www.kitch-en.co.uk
Any feedback is of course always welcome.

Xynthetic is an art & skateboarding collective with artists, skaters, filmers & photographers constantly collaborating. CARBON & CHEMICALS is Xynthetic's first group show, a mini arts tour visiting 3 different cities – Middlesbrough, Nottingham and Bristol - featuring hand-painted skateboards and hand-screened prints with Lomo photography accompanying each piece to show the process behind the artwork. Add a super8 film projection to the mix and you get a low-fi analogue exhibition of niceness.
The Xynthetic group consists of: Waste, Jam Factory, Mr Jago, Richt, Sums the Paw, Stephen Heath, Klingatron, Orco and Pone. Between them they have worked for international clients including Addict Clothing, producing a range of work from T-shirts to Vinyl toys, customized sneakers to hand painted skateboards.
In early 2007, Gavin Strange (Jam Factory) was recognized as one of three hottest up-and-coming young artists in the U.K. by GAS Productions. These guys are definitely ones to keep your eyes on.
