About Me

tapeclub moved to Newcastle and generally felt a bit left out and spent all the Sundays finding things to do at the car boot sales. One day, we found sackloads of old cassettes and they were too cheap not to buy them. After moving them from flat to flat, it was decided that something needed to be done.... first making tapes and distributing them... then, after getting lazy, deciding the tapes could make themselves... and then came tapeclub2000

My Interests

Getting keys cutting. Having somebody cut material for you at a haberdashers, Watching a master of the Mr Whippy ice machine do his/her thing. The smell of Panini sticker wrappers when they've been freshly opened, Having dreams that give you bridge belly, Discovering new bits, Listening to someone who can vocalise the way I think, Drawing on walls, setting up events to support other people to draw on walls, My Method Brethren and foremostly, spending time with my alloted other

Music:

The true essence of the mixtape dictates that under 'music:'... we say "yes... music"

Movies:

George A.Romero movies for appetiser, followed by the official starter of Studio Ghibi, a Werner Herzog sandwich of 'Even Dwarves Started Small' and 'Aquirre' with a splash of Jan Svankmajer. I'll have a side salad of Goonies, Karate Kid, Stand by Me and a tall glass of Lost in Translation. For dessert, it'll be Before/After Sunrise, Squid and the Whale and Man Bites Dog. That'll all be tickles down with the afterblast of The Science of Sleep, Willow, Together and anything by Takashi Kitano and Wong Kah Wai (you all have every reason to hate me for my soul rendition of lising things...two ouzes of snare drum, a splash of bass... a flannel to hide my shame) Oh... look out for Brother Francis of Asisis:Gods Jester by Rosselini. Bravo!

Television:

I would advise against it.

Books:

Jeffrey Brown Comics, Jeffery Lewis Comics, Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino, Catcher in the Rye, Albert Camus, Peanuts, Dan Clowes, American Slendor, Bear, Gothic Horror like H.P. Lovecraft and (minds gone blank, will insert later, the writings of a great gothic horror antiquarian), Ways of Seeing by John Berger, a local writer Peter Mortimer... wrote a book called Broke through Britain.... about his walk from Portsmouth to Edinburgh with just a small rucksack, dog, 10p and one meal... he gets by on the good will of the Britons, Modern Britons no less. Would you have put him up? think about it... I would like to think I wouldve.... but really?....

Heroes:

An artist friend of mine who pulls inspiration from the smallest lesser known leaves and and the reverse side of billboards, aiding her in making little models that will save the world! And lets not forget my Method brethren... they are all heroes in their own little ways... D.A.V.E is for single girls what King Soloman was to the non believers! he'll take YOU out! Check www.myspace.com/theghettomethod for more heroes of the free world!
