These guys really know their stuff & know exactly how to wind up the crowd" - DontStayIn.comTorann started in late 2002 with a germ of an idea from some of the members of a now defunct percussion group in Waterford. We decided to go for it, as we felt there was room for a drumming band that wasn't playing samba beats (no offence to the samba players out there!). We had the backing of Waterford Spraoi who had just opened a brand new studio and allowed us to practice there free of charge.What started as 18 gradually made its way down to 6 over the first year or two, slightly more manageable than 18, I think you'll agree! Since then, we've gone from strength to strenght, playing locally, nationally and internationally. Our cv so far includes:Waterford Spraoi Festival, 2003 onwards... -Working with Red Kettle on music for Riddley Walker production, Nov 07 -Planet Love 2007, Fairyhouse, Co Meath (the only live band on the bill!) -TrotuArt Festival, Lodz, Poland 07 -Dublin St Patricks Festival 07 -Trinity Rooms, Limerick (even having Samantha Mumba supporting us on one occasion - and the Miss Limerick 2007 competition - nice!)05, 06 & 07... -Musiklab, Shakedown, Waterford 03, 04, 05 & 06 -Traffik, Waterford 06 & 07... -Rock The Vote, Dublin 07 -Belfast 1st St Patricks Day Festival 06 -Support to international dj's like Ian Pooley, Slam, Umek, the Disconauts, Yousef and more -Tall Ships, Waterford, 05 -Cork Capital of Culture opening celebrations 05 -Dublin Docklands festival 06 & 07 -Special Olympics ceremony 05 -Numerous corporate events - Chamber of Commerce dinner dance, Mayors ball, Irish Museum of Modern Art exhibitions, corporate christmas parties, a few weddings and sadly, one funeral.Few tv appearances also, Rte's Nationwide, Rte2's Saturday morning kids tv show Sattitude, an un-named Polish culture & arts show (with interpreter!) amongst others...There's quite a few more, but I think you get the idea!Each year, even though we get older and older, it gets more fun and we get to travel to new places.
