MUSIC!, bass, guitar, drums, etc. photography and video production. movies, T.V., dogs, cats, meeting celebrities, collecting music memorabilia, camping, fishing, traveling, motorcycles, and sex, not necessarily in that order... and not all at the same time. That's too much pressure.
Also, I'd like to learn Spanish so I can watch Univision and Telemundo. (again... WHY NO ENGLISH SUBTITLES????
OH YEAH. and Talking Cats.....
..
I'd like to meet:
I have a great girlfriend right now... possibly the best ever. We actually met because of MySpace. I'm always open to meeting people but for now I'm doing great.
However if in the future I start looking for another girlfriend. It would be great if she has less problems than I do, and won't screw up my life any worse than it is. And hopefully we can fall in love, and live happily ever after. Or just hang out and watch TV or something. I tend to be pretty selective about women (which may be the problem). I look for: beauty, intelligence, sense of humor, passion, someone with good common sense, in shape and healthy, basically an all-around good catch. NON SMOKER. That's not asking for too much right?
In the slide show and in my pictures, you will see some of the people I have met. All of them have made a huge impact on my life. I'd say definately a lot of brushes with greatness, some of which have become my "real" friends.
Unfortunately, many of these great artists are no longer with us. But their musical legacies will live on forever. One thing I can say is that I've been fortunate to have met MOST of my heroes in the music industry, and enjoyed every minute of it. Still would love to hang out with Eric Clapton sometime, and a few others... maybe someday.
..
Music:
I'll try to narrow it down....which is not easy.
THE WOLF !
BLUES: Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Albert King, Freddie King, Albert Collins, Luther Allison, Eric Clapton, Doyle Bramhall, T-Bone Walker, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Lil' Howlin' Wolf, Hubert Sumlin, Koko Taylor, Bernard Allison, James Solberg, Rufus Thomas, "REAL" blues artists from the Delta, Memphis, Mississippi, Arkansas, Chicago, etc.
CLASSIC ROCK: Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers Band, AC/DC, Rush, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Kiss, Led Zeppelin, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Dio, Motley Crue, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Bad Company, Police, Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Journey, Foreigner, Queen, Molly Hatchett, 38 Special, Tom Petty etc.
NEW ROCK: Gov't Mule, Audioslave, Crossfade, Shinedown, Smile Empty Soul, North Mississippi All-Stars, Silvertide, John Mayer, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Fuel, Saliva, Three Doors Down, Nickleback, Black Crowes, Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz, etc.
R&B/SOUL: Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Cee Lo Green, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, George Clinton & Parliment Funkadelic, James Brown "The Godfather of Soul", and most old 70's-80's funk.
REGGAE: Bob Marley and the Wailers, Toots and the Maytalls.
POP: Not much, but I do admit that I'm very interested in, Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Beyonce, and Christina Aguilera, and not really in a perverted way. I try to avoid knowing too much about the Pop charts though. It's not aimed at me anyway, it's for a whole different demographic. After all, I remember when MTV started...and they used to play something called MUSIC VIDEOS on there.
COUNTRY: Not much. But I do like Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash, and a little Hank Williams Jr. I actually met Willie, he's an awesome guy. I check out the CMT stuff here and there and there are some really talented and super good looking women on there. Seems like you can't get a deal in the Country business without being a beauty contest winner first. I think Gretchen Wilson is pretty cool (she ROCKED the VH1 Rock Honors with Alice in Chains, and Miranda Lambert and several others I can't name.
OH yeah, and I'm IN LOVE with Faith Hill, and also Carrie Underwood she's pretty incredible. I believe that she will without a doubt be the most successful "American Idol" winner EVER.
RAP/Hip-Hop?: Since my time in New Orleans, I've gained a new appreciation for some of the rap performers. They do go a little overboard with 15 guys onstage all with mikes sometimes. The crew that travels with one rapper is never less than 20 dudes, all of whom are working on their own rap record. Some guys onstage are just going "yea" in the mike every once in a while. I would hate to have to PAY a dude to do that. I really prefer rappers with an actual band instead of just a DJ. I like The Roots, Talib Kweli, Snoop Dogg fo' shizzle. And Muck Sticky from Memphis is a very talented guy who could be considered a rapper, but he's so much deeper. A truly unique artist. Definately one to watch.
I will give anything a chance, but I am very much a music critic, so whatever it is, it better have some soul.
Movies:
I love comedy stuff the best. I'm a big movie RENTER, because very few movies are worth 8 bucks + popcorn and a drink. I'd rather wait for the DVD to come out and eat my own popcorn and watch it from my couch. I just saw "BORAT" and I think it's one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time, it WAS worth the 8 bucks. Also Reno 911 Miami was excellent, but I love the TV show so that probably helped. Blues Brothers (the original), Mel Brooks Movies, Billy Bob Thornton movies, most Saturday Night Live cast members movies, Will Ferrell, Adam Sandler, Rob Scheider, Chris Farley, David Spade. Old School, Road Trip, 40 year old Virgin, Anchorman, Boogie Nights, Office Space, Bad News Bears, Bad Santa, Longest Yard (original and re-make), Airplane & (Zucker Bros. films),The Naked Gun series, The Jerk, Freebird the Movie, Woodstock 1969, Richard Pryor movies, School of Rock, Wedding Crashers, Something About Mary, Kingpin, Shallow Hal (Farrelly Bros. stuff), Clerks & (Kevin Smith films), Documentaries, etc. Basically stuff that entertains me and doesn't depress me.
Television:
Saturday Night Live (since the 1st season), Reno 911, My Name is Earl, A few of the "reality" shows, American Idol, Surreal Life, That damn Flava Flav show, I'm SICK of that "I Love New York Bitch", American Chopper, Superbikes, The "X" Games and most of the motorcycle shows, Pimp my Ride, Barrett-Jackson Car Autions, Daily Show, David Letterman (I can't stand Jay Leno), Conan O'Brien, Jimmy Kimmell Live, Cops, Dog The Bounty Hunter, Family Guy, Simpsons, Web Junk 20. E! channel, Comedy Central, Discovery, A&E, Court TV, HGTV, some of the all time classics, Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Police Squad, etc. I love to watch Univision and Telemundo (although I can't understand 95% of what they are talking about, why no English subtitles?) Only sports I watch would be NFL & some College football, the X games, and Motorcycle racing, and that's about it. I've been known to zone out on a fishing show occasionally....or something equally weird. I'm a chronic channel flipper. TV is a great way to waste time, and you might just learn something too.
Books:
Musician Biographies or books on people who interest me, Mostly Non-Fiction stuff. Not much time for reading books, more likely to read magazines or the newspaper.
Heroes:
God, My Mom, Elvis, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Evel Knevel, all the greatest guitarists and bass players in the world, Hugh Hefner, Bill Gates, Bill Clinton (can we PLEASE re-elect him now?), Jimi Hendrix, Lorne Micheals (producer/creator of SNL), Steve Irwin - The Crock Hunter R.I.P., Tarzan, The Lone Ranger, Dan Akyroyd, John Belushi, Bill Murray, Paul Shaffer, Chris Farley, Phil Hartman, Grandpa Jones and the whole Hee-Haw Gang, The Guy Who Invented Money, Spiderman, Batman (but NOT Robin), Superman, etc.
And the photographer who shot the following pictures. ENJOY!
