My Interests

MUSIC---DRINK---MY SON---in the order that I met 'em MUSIC has always been the main constant in my life. I always had my AM transistor within reach as a kid. When I was three my folks say I would ramble around the house singing "Stay With Me" by the Faces...just the chorus but I'd be singin' "Tay wit me" probably sounding a little like Buckwheat..little did I know the subject matter was something I'd relate a lot better to a few years later. I remember dancing with Mom and Dad to the tunes of Gladys Knight & the Pips and also the Staple Singers. At 4 yrs, Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen LP was one I always had my father spin for me before he had to go to work (along w/ my Songs of the Old West LP..which I still own)...just being in this town you gotta have a hole in your soul if you ain't into music;come to think of it...there are alot of soul-less fuckers 'round here and unfortunately there's a lot of soul-less music out there being made and played if you can call it that. Besides music, I likes me a little DRINK...Guinness Stout--room temp, Jameson's & Jack Daniel's--double shot on the rocks, and others things people say aren't good for me but I've been this way for more than half my life and I feel fine most the time...the hours of 10PM-6AM make me happy. I also play and collect bass guitars--I had 22 of 'em and after recently thinning out the herd, there are now 12... My newest interest is being this Dad Dude that I never thought I'd be. MY SON Ian is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I still have a hard time believing I've been blessed with this little Rock n Roller who at this time is now 2 years old and has made this life much more worth living.

I'd like to meet:

no more bad people...just good people...maybe the occasional good bad person or bad good person--but mostly just good people. Even I sometimes as a Christian have to ask God to protect me from some of His followers

Music:

most anything with soul and emotion--groove and feeling

Movies:

I have a thing for Myrna Loy and Jean Simmons...I prefer black and white....

Television:

the Simpsons (ever since the beginning...everyday @ 6pm), Duck Dodgers, Justice League, the Batman and other cartoons w/ my kid, VH-1 Classics

Heroes:

my father, Shel McDonald (8/29/43-11/17/01)...he was my best friend, a talented poet & the best Rock N Roll Dad ever; Leo Fender; Keith Richards; Muddy Waters; Howlin' Wolf; Willie Dixon; Chuck Berry; Donald "Duck"Dunn; James Jamerson; Tommy Cogbill; Leroy Hodges; Phil "the Rocker" Lynott; Gene Simmons; my dear friend Melvin Lee (local blues bass man who I wanna be like even if I never I grow up) and I have to say my wife Lyn who has had the dedication and this kind of amazing, just pure ability to put up with my ass for over 20 years...I believe that's very heroic of her...among other things.
